Visiting the Marsh~Mosaic Monday

It was fun to be on the road again a few days ago taking a day trip for the first time in ages. John drives; I take photos. Yes, we did stop at the frozen custard stand. If you ever make it to my corner, this is a must stop.

This is Scarborough Marsh just down the way from John's boyhood home. He has some stories about the marsh including that the TransAtlantic communications cable was buried/is buried in there. I don't imagine that it is as important today as it once was.

Just some silly photos taken while the car got a good scrub. Love the colors.

Thus ended our day...

  3. I love day trips, and I so want to visit your "neck of the woods" one day/some day :). When I do, right after I eat a lobster roll, I am heading over to Hodgman's for dessert. :) Great photos, it looks beautiful and pristine. xo

  12. I'll take frozen custard. I can't believe you didn't take a picture of the custard and make us drool.

    Your mosaic is lovely!

  13. I love to take a day trip - something new to see, time spent together - and at the end, an ice cream or a hamburger from a roadside stand - always tastes better than in a restaurant!

  14. (Vee, I pinky promise that I did not see your post before I posted my Sunday Snapshots!)

Your trip looks like lots of fun! I happen to love marshes as we passed through several on the way to my grandparents' house. When we ride past a particularly brackish marsh, the girls say "ewwww" and I say "fond memories." I'll bet John says "fond memories" too.

  15. This looks just like the kind of day trip I would love.

And come to think of it, we haven't day tripped around this joint in a while.

    Hmmm... inspiration...

  16. Your John must be a patient man. Hubby will only slow down for me to get a shot not stop and get out of the car. Some get mosaics you are making these day. Love the one through the car wash.

  20. There's a lot-of-that-going-around! He Drives She Takes Pics!!!! -gigggles-

Oh wow, but that in-the-car-wash pic is a classic example of a Surprise Photo Op!!! Classic!

  21. Beautiful pictures Vee! Your car wash photos remind me of the time my husband took his dad,who has suffered a severe stroke, through one of these car washes. His dad got a big smile on his face and kept pointing at all the pretty colors of soap running down the windows. It was a good day. Isn't it amazing how the simplest of things can mean so much.

At first I thought that was the ice cream place that you and John brought Ken and I to but looked back and saw that it was different.

  26. I wondered what you day-trippers were up to the other day. Now I know. Enjoying frozen custard (whatever that may be)...and exploring the marshes. And washing the car when all was said and done! And a good time was had by all.

  27. Visiting your neck of the woods is something we want to do one day. We'll be sure to stop by and go for some frozen custard. And a paddle on the marsh. What a beautiful place.

Love the whimsy of the car wash mosaic. A great relief after deleting, resizing, telling my husband and son-in-law why I have to do it this way and enduring their suggestions (none of which worked and I'm back to doing it my way).

  32. I do love trips...and pretty mosaics like you make. :)

I giggled when you mentioned custard...while we were in the mountains, fishing and sightseeing, we found a little place about 14 miles away from our cabin..in Angel Fire, that had the BEST ice cream. We had a cone every single day while on vacation. Addicting, to say the least. and US on a diet, too. :))

The frozen custard sounds delish. How nice to come home in a clean car and how clever to photograph the experience.

  34. What great photos! And look at how green it is in your "neck of the woods"! The weather forecast keeps predicting rain for us, but it skirts around us each time. I love looking at the scenery in your area.
