Blogger in Draft, Et Cetera

This is what I took from yesterday's post: perhaps I should be working in Blogger in Draft. Today I am. So far, so good.

Thank you to everyone who participated in my poll. I'm keeping it up through the end of April so please consider answering the questions if you haven't already. What I am learning is that some bloggers have nearly zero problems and the rest of us have far too many. Blogging should be fun; it should not take one blogger three times as long to accomplish the same task because her pictures are disappearing or because her text won't stay formatted. Here's to happier blogging!

***

Thought I'd share how much snow has gone in a week. It's amazing what a little sun, warmer temps, and a lot of rain can do.

1. Snow gone, sap buckets gone, too (Does this mean I must redo my header?)

2. Daffodil buds

3. Everlasting (a very pretty ground cover popping through)

4. Azalea bush and Toby

5. A lot of sand on front lawn...a lot of raking to be done (Remember my crazy neighbor plowing his yard of snow onto my lawn? I should offer him a rake.)

6. The plate border survived the winter

7. Side lawn's ruts raked out (thanks to John) and forsythia bushes beyond...no blooms yet

8. Plenty of snow patches still about

9. Something new coming  up (I have no idea what it is); something old coming up (a sprig of grass)

Fascinating, say what?!

I sincerely hope that your spring is way ahead of mine! Enjoy a happy day...

Edited to Add: Thursday, 6:48 AM... I'm not putting up a new post today. Not much sense in it really since all of Blogdom is out playing. I just slapped in my latest backyard water feature in case anyone wandered in needing something new...eight seconds and it sounds so lovely.

  1. It does say "spring" on the calendar, doesn't it?!! Our spring is not ahead of yours. I love seeing your green. Keep sharing...please!

  2. Vee,

Blogger is a new experience for me because I used Live Writer to create my post. Never and I mean never did I have a problem with it. Now that I am on the Mac, I have to use blogger and I find it cumbersome after LW.

I did lose pictures and gmail is now associated with my blog instead of my yahoo email. I have spent so much time trying to figure this out that I am exhausted from the effort. I love the creativity of the blogging but I am having a hard time being creative as I struggle with blogger. I am going to back up my blog today. BJ at Sweet Nothings has a tutorial. I am going there now!

  3. I did your poll. :)
Love the updated pictures. We are at about the same level as you although, I haven't seen a patch of snow for awhile now- Yay!!!

  4. Yes, happily, most snow gone around these parts too! Even the long-lasting batch of it, in front of house, is gone. Mmmmmmmm, which means I now can't put off cleaning up out front. :-) Did so, out on back patio and was so proud of myself. Now I guess it's time to make myself more proud. -Hehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-

Do I do Blogger In Draft? Guess I should read through all your comments on yesterday's entry, to find out... Before asking that question. I know I compose entries, in the simplest Blogger way. Never did any of the other ways, which people speak of...

Thank you for bringing all this up! And having a place for bloggers to chat and vent, about all of this stuff! And maybe to learn some stuff, too. At least, to know, we with problems are not alone!!!!

    .♥.

  5. I love your plate border! How cute is that?!!

  6. The main problem I have with blogger is each time I download a picture to put on my post I can only do one at a time. I have to go to edit again and again to download pictures. Maybe it's my computer????

  7. You are so right, blogging should be fun, and for awhile now, blogger has been kind to me, (knock on wood).
I am glad you are beginning to see some signs of spring, enjoyed the photos.
    Hugs,
    Sue

  8. Yes, signs of spring are everywhere. Here in the northwest too. Nice to see the green popping through the brown earth! Though, I love the scenes through your window during any season of the year!

  9. Your plate border is very creative, Vee. It's good to see signs of spring in your area. Everything's really growing fast here with the warmer weather finally arriving. But I hear that we'll be back down in the 30's Fri. night. Grrr.

  10. Hi Vee,
I think our weather is about the same as yours. I'm in West. PA. Our snow is gone, but the last two days has been very cold and rainy.
I've had a pretty smooth time on Blogger lately. I think sometimes it's a problem with our internet provider and not so much with Blogger. But what do I know. I just keep learning as I go, and my good bloggy friends are always so helpful when I do run into a problem.

  11. Now you just want some nice green grass Vee. That is one thing I would miss, a winter of bright green grass.

Hope you get some nice spring weather soon.

  12. I am with Penny!! I LOVE your plate border! I may have to try oneof those myself!

  13. It won't take long now. Spring will come rushing your way. Soon you'll have temperatures much warmer than ours here on the temperate coast.

  14. So good to see that the snow is nearly gone and the spring buds are popping out. The cute plate border appears to have survived the winter very nicely.

  15. Wow...you have melted in the last week...I think your winning our race so far! LOL We have large patches of no snow, but still have areas that are 2 feet deep.

I liked your poll, I just took it. So sorry to hear you've had so many problems with blogger...the only area I seem to have issue with is trying to place photos where I want them in my text...sometimes it works great and other times it bounces all over the place...gurrrr.

  16. It takes a while for spring to get up your way. Glad to see it won't be long now. : )

  17. Love your pictures! Have to say that we have you beat here in NC- our daffodils and tulips are near the end of their blooms.

I have not blogged in ages...due to frustrations you have mentioned. My blog does not even look like my blog anymore and I gave up trying to get it to look like I remembered it. Too much going on in my life and then adding the Blogger stresses took the fun away from it for me. I still enjoy visiting those who have managed to maintain their blogs in order. So glad housekeeping is not this tough- my house would be a wreck :)

  18. Hi sweet Vee!!! Looks like it's-a-coming your way girl....SPRING! I'm so happy for you too ~ it's been so wonderful here, I know you're ready! I always love stopping by to see you, hugs and love, Dawn

  19. Vee,
We are a little ahead of you, spring-wise! The daffodil buds are my favorite...

  20. Spring is headed your way, I can see it, not long now! My cousin in Newfoundland sent pictures of their snow festival, pretty, but no thanks. Leave your header alone with the syrup buckets. It may cool you off in the coming warmer months :) Thanks for the words of support, it helps, I appreciate it.

  21. Oh Vee.... I'm so happy to hear that you're FINALLY getting some spring weather..... the pictures look so pretty and almost spring like....

I'm holding my breath that I don't have any big blogging problems.... who would I turn to????? That's the big problem.

    Hugs,

That's the good thing about Blogger in Draft. There is a place to contact someone.

  23. We've had Spring for a few weeks now. Some days have been low 80's! I love the warm days and cool nights, but I'm not looking forward to Hot Days! I don't do summer very well! :-)

  24. Ah, we have a Spring day today finally. Blue skies, a bit warmer and the birds seem to be celebrating the day already with their singing. Thank God I didn't take a ride to the Cape. Did you see the news about Falmouth and the floods?

Ik hope those buds are blooming today. That rain surely helped.

I wanted to mention about the editing on your blog that moving paragraphs isn't like it used to be. When I took one look at the new HTML code I knew it would take forever to try to find the beginning and end to that code. You have to be in edit to move things.

So instead here's a workaround. When I move paragraphs, I click on the photo in between and click on remove. Then I place the photo where I want it and upload it or copy the code from flicker again. It's backwards, but It takes less time in the long run. Then I look at it in compose mode. But I love the preview mode because then I know for sure how it is going to look.

    Have a great day.

  25. When I used the OLD EDITOR on Blogger, I had troubles all the time. Now, in NEW EDITOR, I seldom have trouble creating a post. I love the New Editor. I love the PREVIEW feature the best. I can see if I need to re-size photos and etc.
I'm not understanding what you mean when you say *you are working in Blogger in draft* unless you are saying you work up a post and instead of SCHEDULING a time to post, you just SAVE it and it goes into draft form. ??
As for moving paragraphs...my routine is to put in ALL my photos and then go back and write beneath each photo. That way, I seldom need to move a paragraph.

I hate the larger size of the magazine, Vee. Is it because I am becoming mean in my olden age? It just seems to darn big and I want it back to the normal size.

  26. BJ, "Blogger in Draft" is the name of an actual program. If you Google it, up your dashboard will pop with the option to make "Blogger in Draft" your default program. (Presumably, you can remove it if you don't like it.) It does seem to be more stable, you can still use the preview button, AND, should you have any problems, there's an option to contact Blogger. I LOVE that.

Thanks for answering my question about the new size. They just don't stack as well and I find it cumbersome. I wish they'd go back to the orginal size, which seems to be standard across the industry for most magazines anyway. I'm not going to re-up my subscription.

  27. ok...I just found Blogger in Draft...DUH.
I am so slow at all this. :))
I just clicked on MOBIL TEMPLATE so my kids can see my blog better on their Iphones. Pretty cool..now, gotta go back and see what else Blogger in Draft claims to do. :))
    Thanks for keeping me updated.

  28. Just like that your snow is gone (poof)...and you have a creek running through your backyard. Nice water feature! Guess what? It's snowing here this morning...mixed with rain.

I don't know 'blogger in draft' but quite like the new editor.

  29. Hello Vee, my friend! Well, I can't say I've had too much of a problem with Blogger - guess I've been lucky. Sometimes I wish it was a little easier to get pictures and text where you want them, but I'm managing.

I'm glad spring has come your way and the snow is leaving. I'm wondering... Is John still feeling his "iliums"? Hope that's passed, too!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi Vickie,

Yes, John is still feeling his hip bones. I guess it's a good thing in that they are being supported by the new mattress.

  31. Water feature? Is this run off? Wow!

  32. It's more like summer here in Florida...but I'm loving it! Hope you are enjoying your evening and blogger behaves! ♥

  33. Debbie, yes, it's run-off...a little brook that runs in the ravine behind my house every spring and whenever there're heavy rains.

  35. Thanks for writing about the Blogger problems, and now I'm going to scoot over to BJ at Sweet Nothings to find out more information because of YOUR comments!!!! Thanks again! Love the header, by the way!

  36. I voted on your poll Vee. I am so frustrated that I can't post pictures from picassa to blogger anymore. Little red boxes only appear. I guess it isn't that big of a deal but I find it easier to see them rather than pick from thumbnails sized pictures once I'm already in blogger.

  37. I never tried Blogger in Draft and more or less don't play around with my blog too often as I hate the headaches. I love my cable service at home --when we were in Ireland I gave up on using my computer as it was sooooo slow and I had to pay $$$ for service! UGH!
