Island Scenes~Mosaic Monday

image will enlarge

A much cooler and less humid day today so it was very nice to get away and spend the afternoon at the coast. Most photos are shot from the car as we drove slowly with island traffic.  We did stop for a few minutes to smell the ocean breezes, though the chatter and clamor of noisy, arguing children drove us off. Kids! ☺

Linking to Mary at Little Red House. As always, even if I forget, thank you, Mary, for hosting Mosaic Monday. It's a highlight of my week!

Until next time...

  1. What a beautiful collection of shots of the island. One can imagine the salt air and the sound of the gulls, over the sound of the children!

  9. Beautiful pictures Vee. May I ask which island this is? Of course, any place on the coast is beautiful. We are still hoping to get away to Bar Harbour sometime in August (and shoping in Bangor!). Pamela

  13. Marsha, this island is along the coast of Maine. It could be any island along the coast of Maine. They all pretty much look alike.

Lorrie, I am thirty miles from the ocean at the closest point. This place is about forty miles from home.

  14. I love all these views of the water, shores and hamlets! I have fond memories of driving up to Bar Harbor, Maine, the first year we were married. I was amazed by the rugged shoreline beauty of Maine.

  15. I hope with each passing day this heat and humidity comes to an end. In Virginia, we're getting a slight break into the 90s for two days. Temps expected back in triple digits with heat indexes by mid week. I'm cooling off looking at your pictures, thanks for the post.

  37. Vee, there is something about being near the sea: the smells, the sounds, the vastness of it. I particularly like your photo of the grasses in the foreground and the boats beyond. Thank you for visiting my blog; I really appreciated your comment (and the fact that you noticed the "point" of the collages). Enjoy your day. -Karen

  38. Re: Your comment in my blog...

Yes, I meant old fashioned hoops, being played with, by old fashioned children. (My perfect old fashioned summer day) In my posting of how later Sun. afternoon, the view out my patio windows, made me think of an old fashioned summer day, but before my time. :-)

An old fashioned Ice Cream Social in the town park. Ladies in long dresses and gentlemen in straw hats and etc. :-)

Mmmmmm, isn't that just delightful? A delicious day dreaming. :-)

  40. What beautiful photos. I have wanted to take a road trip through New England for years, I probably should have done it when my bladder was younger :). I did that trip as a child but we never made it to Maine, went to Canada instead. I want a Maine lobster roll right now. xo,

  47. Scenes like you shared make me long for the days when my swim suit had ruffles on the bottom and my bucket and shovel set were real metal, good pacific coast chilhood memories.

  48. It is always lovely to go down by the water. I have always wanted a house over looking the water. But till then, to visit, and walk on a beach, and look at the boats and dream of sailing somewhere, will do.
Have a wonderful week, and thanks for dropping by my blog to say hi.
    cheers

  49. Hi Vee. The photos of the canola were down the road from us. I've noticed a lot of canola fields in our area this summer. It is a huge crop out in the prairies and Canola oil is produced from it. Another name for it is rapeseed. I prefer the canola name. ;-)

  53. Your island collage is so beautiful Vee. Just to sit in the sun and breathe the fresh salt air is one of the joys of summer. I like the way you've framed the central shot with grass.

  54. boy do I wish I were there right now!! It is like a dream to see the water and the boats. Our Texas lake where I live is really pretty, but it's so daddgummed hot I don't even want to go outside!! :(
