This Week's Garden~Mosaic Monday

sprinkler was on

Hi! I pondered for two seconds and a half whether to feature my wee patch of a garden this week. My final thoughts were that I have all winter to feature in-house subjects. The little plates were formerly creating a border, then I had marauders of the mammal variety move in so up went the ancient, wee, picket fence. After that, I pulled up the plates and tucked them here and there within the garden where I admire their permanent posies even as I admire the daylilies that are here one day and gone the next.

This is the latest daylily to bloom along with the Stella d'Oros and the ubiquitous ditch lilies. I believe that it's a Purple Elite, but perhaps someone knows for certain.

As always, I am linking to Mosaic Monday at Mary's Little Red House. I hope that if you've been playing with mosaics yet have never joined in the fun that you might consider it. Mary has all the information that you need to know right in her sidebar. (As for me, I use a free program called Photoscape with a little help from Photoshop, too.)

  7. Vee, Your mosaic is stunning! I used to put plates in the ground in my garden too. Before I knew what a treasure I had, I placed a Limoges china plate in the ground! Happy Monday!

  9. Omigosh Vee, how pretty your "wee patch" is!!! I have always loved the roadside lilies that we have at this time of year. Sadly, I can only grow cultivated daylilies on the deck because of the damn deer! xoxo

  11. Beautiful daylilies, Vee! I am so upset tonight...deer must have eaten every single bud on some of my favorite daylilies last night. GRRRRR! Thankfully, I got a couple of photos yesterday.

  24. Vee, I'll have to try the program you used for your lily collage. I really like the edges on some of your flower petals; mine don't have the pretty "ruffle" that yours do. Lovely!

  25. Oh so enjoyed...so calm and cool, what a delight from this sun scorched dry land right now, to see the beautiful colors...and green grass.

  26. I think the lilies must love hot, humid weather...because they are stunning this year. Your mosaic is sweet as usual. I love that center photo....fences and flowers are meant to go together.

  36. You asked if WordPress is easier for Mac's? I don't know.... Other than I am on a Mac, and I'm very happy with posting here, so far.

Have much to learn, about many things. But I signed up and it was basically easy. For the "bells and whistles," it'll take me longer.

    :-)

  37. What follower button?

    Where on my page?

    Please, explain.

I'm still trying to find out how to tell people how to easily follow my Wordpress blog. (Mmmm, I so dislike the word "follow"!)

    Please and thank you!

  38. Sorry, I don't see a Follower button on your new blog. I guess that's just a Blogger thing???

  41. One of my blog links is to a daylily site. She blew my mind with daylily varieties and created yet another craving in my gardening soul. Beware of falling in love with still more varieties!

  43. Pretty and interesting addition the plates.
I had a whole bed of beautiful Day Lillies once all grown from seed I brought over from the States picked from a friends place who specialised in them. The take 4 years to flower from seed. After about 10 years I dug them up as they had grown so much they needed constant splitting and took up too much room. Enjoyed them while I had them though.

  44. Oh my, I don't know how I missed this yesterday. I love the mosaic. You do such fantastic blog entries ~ all of the time!

Wish I could identify the daylily for you. I order labels from Gardeners Supply. It's the only way I remember all of their names. Then I created a data base to keep track of heights, bloom times, foliage type, etc. That's fair, isn't it? I wonder if people can really remember all that information about their plants. If so, I'm not one of them.

  45. Vee, I love your plate border!!! One of my neighbors did it and I thought it was brilliant. What a great way to display old dishes that have chips, etc.

I need to practice my mosaics. I did one a while back but it was just a basic 4-photo shot. Hopefully one day I can become proficient enough to join in. xo,
