The Aprons Three and Free Gifts for Friends and Family
The two outside aprons are winging their way to John's daughters. One on the West Coast and the other in the Carolinas. Hope that they like them! (No, they don't read this blog so I'm safe to share.) The one in the center is for the home state daughter; she'll be needing the flannel. They are all made in part from their father's old shirts. Believe me, he's keeping a close eye on his shirts these days. ;>
Cleaning out my email folders last night, I found this piece that I've had saved for some time. It's from Inspire 21. Thought you might enjoy it, too.
Gifts For Friends For FREE!
~ Author Unknown
1) THE GIFT OF LISTENING...
But you must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening.
2) THE GIFT OF AFFECTION...
Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back, and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends.
3) THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER...
Clip cartoons. Share articles and funny stories. Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you."
4) THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE...
It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note could be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life.
5) THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT...
A simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "You did a super job" or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day.
6) THE GIFT OF A FAVOR...
Every day, go out of your way to do something kind.
7) THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE...
There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others.
8) THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION...
The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone. Really, it's not that hard to say "Hello" or "Thank You."
Friends are a very rare jewels, indeed. They make us smile and encourage us to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us. Cherish your friends, and your family as they are what sustain us in our own times of need.
So, on that note, allow me to thank all of you for reading today. Create yourself a fantastic day!

Beautiful aprons, Vee - I can see why the man of the house is keeping an eagle eye on the shirts in his closet! And that poem/words of wisdom piece is so perfect for this time of year. Have a wonderful day!

Those girls are going to be so tickled with the aprons. Having them made from their dad's shirts really makes them special.
ReplyDeleteLovely idea, Vee, creating aprons from Dad's shirts for his daughters. I know they will each cherish the gift. I enjoyed your free gift list too. It truly is the simply things--the free things--that make a friendship. Thanks for sharing! ~Kathy

LOVED the free gifts... that will be in my newsletter this week.
ReplyDeleteI love the aprons, too, and the fact that they are made from old shirts, even better. I am having teddy bears made from my dad's shirts for all the grandkids (my daughter and my sis's two boys). I know they will treasure them.

ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for including your list of 'homemade' gifts we can all give...anytime. I am going to print those off.
And here's what I like. John has a daughter on the west coast...and I live on the west coast. When are you coming?
Such a great idea to make the aprons from dad's shirts.
ReplyDeleteI love the 8 free gifts. I have a notebook that I write down things I'd like to keep and I'm adding this to that.

ReplyDeleteHow've you been? I'm in full holiday swing. My boys and I are going to the symphony tonight (let's just say Randey's not a fan and won't be joining us. lol). I'm almost done with my Christmas shopping (only have one thing to get for my dad and one little thing for my oldest granddaughter) and all my chickens...er, I mean "children", are in one place these next couple of weeks so I'm as happy and cheerful as can be. Hope you're feeling as wonderful as I am!!
Merry Christmas!
Kari
The aprons are beautiful. I wear them all the time in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteLove the reminder of the gifts we can give that cost no money but have a priceless value.

ReplyDeleteI love the aprons! I do hope you might one day share your technique for making them from shirts! A wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteThe "free" gifts list is so sweet. I think I need to save it to remind myself what true gifts really are.
Have a wonderful day or at least what is left of it. I am a bit late in posting and getting around to visiting today. A bit under the weather but I plan to bounce back quickly!
Love the aprons, and all the great inspiration today Vee!
ReplyDeleteAnd that is such a great idea to make an apron out of special memories!
blessings,
melissa
Had to come and visit when I saw your 'rose' theme pop up at Quill Cottage. I love that antique rose pic, and had it on my own site till Christmas themes took over.
ReplyDeleteAnd when I read your profile and found you enjoy the movie "Enchanted April", methinks there's some kindred spirit happening! I lament that there seems to be no move towards putting that movie on DVD.
I love all things beautiful, furry, and funny... so maybe you'll find something that interests you if you come by and visit!
I love those aprons made from John's shirts...how clever! A daughter in the Carolinas? When you visit, you make sure to come by here!
ReplyDeletehugs
Sandi
