It's Time

Source

This room looks so cozy to me that I had to share...my favorite color is featured prominently and that fire warms me just to look at it. I don't have a fireplace, but I'd certainly love to. Maybe. Those who have them sometimes tell me how messy, how awful, how cold. I don't know. They just look so inviting. I want to sit here and chat with you all for hours, but I'm busy taking down the tree, laundering Christmas linens, and packing Christmas away.

Thank you for indulging me as I share one last 2008-2009 Christmas tree picture here. This was how it looked last night as evening descended. I truly have enjoyed sitting by it reading my Christmas novel from Angie and sipping tea with John every evening. The book was finished last night; Epiphany has come and gone; I must face the cold hard facts that it's time. Time. TIME.

Enjoy your day...

  1. Your new header is awesome! I must get busy and create a new one. There's something precious about a tree isn't there, especially with people you love and add a good book and some tea, it sounds heavenly to me :)

Have a blessed day Mz Vee :)

  2. I'm thankful that you enjoyed that book. God is good! Thank you also for your card. I saved it with my 'special' cards that I have received from others. I look back on these cards years down the road and read them again, finding such encouragement, love and blessings. Have a blessed time, being content, being thankful and praising God for His goodness, and His lavish love!!

  3. I love the room you featured today, it looks cozy yet uncluttered, a very restful space indeed. We have had both kinds of fireplaces, wood burning and recently converted to fuel burning. Both have their pros and cons but yes indeed, there is nothing like cozy fireside reading. Speedy wishes on the Christmas clear away!

  4. You CAN have a fireplace. You have a live-in carpenter. We bought an electric fireplace at Lowe's. My son and I built a fireplace surround to match the wood stain in our room. It looks REAL and it's 5,000 BTU and puts off enough heat to cut the chill in a room. Check it out. I think there are pictures on my blog....somewhere.

  5. Pretty new Header!

I love our fireplace, which {over the years} has been a regular wood burning one, and had a small stove insert in it, and is now a gas fireplace. Must say that the last, is the best. No real crackle and wood smoke aroma but... It still gives heat and is clean as can be.

You are ahead of me, on getting the Christmas tree down. "My excuse" is that 'Uncle A.' is still trying to get over a bad cold. And thus, I'm not pushing on him to take the tree apart. :-) I really should gather up the things I can, though. So there's a clean slate, for Valentine decorations!

  6. Have fun packing away Christmas 2008...and don't put it too far away, because before long you'll be needing those boxes again!

I love those fireplaces! Our original farmhouse (where our kids now live) had three fireplaces...two wood and one with a gas insert. Now we have two gas fireplaces...they aren't quite the same kind of cozy as wood, but so easy. I'm with Suzanne...check out the electric fireplaces. A few of our friends have them in the bedroom.

  9. You can post a picture of your tree any time you want!

I love a fireplace too but nothing is worse than having a fireplace that doesn't work and that is where I am now!

    Love the new header!

  10. First, WOW! The new header is beautiful!! About the fireplace. When we built our new home, we eliminated the "woodstove". While it didn't have the romance of the fireplace featured in your lovely photo, it did generate a warmth that cannot be replicated. We've lamented its loss every winter. Maybe your resident handyman will come up with a solution? In the meantime, Godspeed on putting away the Christmas tree and decorations. It always seems like more work than when it all "comes out". ~Kathy

  13. Mine is all put away except for the stray bow or piece of tape stuck to the carpet! Glad you got to enjoy your tree for a while. Guess it's easier to leave it up since you're snowed in and feeling all Christmas-y. We had 80 degree temps a few days after Christmas and so that sucker came down right away and all the needles are swept clean. Sounds like you and John are having such a nice cozy winter up there - Vickie

  14. Yes, all good things must come to pass.... new good things ahead!

I love your new banner and I would LOVE that living room too! I don't have a fireplace and I always wanted one. We bought a fake one with electric flame last year at Home Depot on sale, but it's really not the same as a real fire.

    Hugs, Pat

  18. Awww how pretty....I know, I'm always a bit sad to take down the tree and the magical lights and put them all to bed for another year. But life has to go on I guess, so now we can look forward to "Valentines" day, right?
