The Dirty Truth

Oh it's a right regular fright show around here. Today is April 7, 2011. These pictures were taken yesterday afternoon. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. I am surrounded by snow and ice. Which of these pictures would you think I like best? Bingo. The one on the top. It looks like icy hieroglyphics.

Last year? Last year on April 4, 2010, my backyard looked like this; it was shirtsleeve and flip-flop weather.Wonder when we'll see scenes like this again? And. what. in. the. world. is John doing with Jake?

  1. Vee,

I remember it well...However, the weather will improve because it always does. As my mother used to say, "This too shall pass."

  2. i really sympathize. It's so slow here but really I keep thinking back to about 4 or 5 years ago when we had 24 or more inches of heavy wet snow from early May til mid May so I'm just crossing my fingers. Thanks for your comments on my blog and to answer your question - that was a Superimposed picture. It was made with Picasa using the Multiple Exposure setting. I was looking for texture so snapped part of an oil painting and the sunlight through our door's frosted glass sidelight window. The glare of my flash created that bright spot which worked well. Glad you enjoyed it.
Have a good day Vee, and keep smiling. Carol's right!

  3. Let me see,... what can I saw that will cheer you up about all this snow....hummm You are on the far side of winter.. nooo that won't do.. I know... you and John come visit me in Carolina, as we are finally promised a week of high 70's and 80's. Truth is it has been a crazy winter here too, and I am hoping the summer won't be on the other extreme. Great mosaic photos.
Loved the photo of John and Jake, enjoy your day.

  4. YOU WIN!!! You have more snow cover left, that I do. ,-) Dubious winning, I know.

Could it be all the pine trees, which cut out a lot of sun? And lessen the melting power of the sun?

What is John doing with Jake? They are playing and Jake is giggling so much and wiggling so much, that John is bent over him, to hold onto Jake, so Jake won't wiggle right over John's knee and onto the ground, on his head! S-i-m-p-l-e!

And there is that beautiful Daughter of yours. Playing with the other Grand. :-)

    :-)

    Ducking, running and hiding...

  7. When I went out this morning I noticed my hyacinths bloomed overnight! I was so surprised that I gasped! It has been so cold and damp here this week that signs of spring are rare to come by. Maybe that makes those blooms all the more special? It is supposed to warm up a little next week...we'll see! :)

  8. I guess that winter is hanging around long for lots of us. We never had the snow but we also never had blue sky ..until yesterday afternoon:) It's amazing how we long for warm sunshine.

  9. I love the snow! But...on (your) days like this, I'm glad I live in the south! Sure hope it warms up soon for you! The Spring is really beautiful this year!

  10. It's global warming, dontcha know? Ha!

Spring WILL come, of that I'm certain. When, only God knows. And I mean that sincerely. Waiting is a hard thing to do.

Meanwhile, think of this as a character-building experience. (I hate it when someone tells me that - so I'm being tongue-in-cheek.)

  11. I feel your pain. We had way more snowy weather than we are used to, but I think...I hope...that it is finally ended. Now tho we are into the fluctuating temps and threats of severe storms season. I don't much like that either. Hope you have pretty spring days soon!

  12. Spring really must arrive at your house soon! I think that another word for spring is HOPE. Hope that it will arrive and bring new things. Hope, hope, hope! In the meantime, while you are hoping, hang in there. This stage of snow is the most boring, I think.

I hope you have sunshine today!

  13. Warm weather is coming your way and it will be there soon.

Looks like Jake is about to get a spanking - I know that he isn't but that's what it looks like to me. : )

  14. Oh my our weather is different..but believe it or not we have had snow on Easter, yes, right here in the State of Texas!

  15. I guess you don't want to know that it is 70 in north Alabama today, hmmmmm..... It's so hard to believe how it can completely be spring in one area and still hard-care winter in another! Hopefully your weather will change for the better soon. Maybe spring is saving her arrival for a beautiful Easter Sunday!

I hope you have your spring soon!

  16. Well, I guess that I shouldn't complain about the one inch of snow we received yesterday...that is nothing compared to what you have!

    Wishing for springtime weather! :)

    Blessings!

  17. UH OH dear Vee,

You all need a BREAK...a break in the weather, sunshine, flowers, outdoor cooking.

    Sending warm thoughts your way.

    Hugs,

  19. Wow. And yeah..the snow left around here is nasty-dirty-icky. However, I did see some buds on the trees this morning! And, I'm going to see Ella in New Jersey next week for the Cherry Blossom festival, so it better be bloomin'!!

  20. Commiserating with you. New snow yesterday and this morning. Summer will come, and we will be complaining because it is too hot.

Finally, finally, the internet connection let your blog load. Thanks for your comments on my posts. Hope you've been well.

  22. You must be in northern Maine to have that much snow! I used to live in Maine and I remember how loooooong the winters were. We lost all our snow in a big rainstorm a few weeks ago. Today I had my first crocus bloom from the bulbs I planted in the fall. Exciting! Nancy
