Some days are better than others around here that's for sure. Often, the best that I can do is try to spell correctly, keep my pronouns and cases tidy, and cheer when someone else provides grammar lessons right in her title.

If any are following along on the foliage report in my sidebar, you'll note that colors are brightening and there're more of them. My area went from low to high without my ever noticing moderate. It looks as if, due to rotten weather, we're going to miss out on this year's season again, except for what we see through our own windows, which is mostly yellow. Always has been mostly yellow in this holler and, though yellow is my favorite color, in autumn, I want to see red and a lot of it. Orange can be nice...
~the road home~
These homes and mine are on the diagonal so if one could cut off the corner...
That's about it for today. Even if it rains all weekend, I should brighten as I have company coming and birthdays to celebrate and things can never be just as we plan them. What's the point of a life such as that?
So what are your favorite autumn colors and how is the season progressing at your place?
A bright and happy Thursday to you...
E-mail sent.
ReplyDeleteThank you, in advance.

"Step away from the camera," she said...
ReplyDeleteHehhhhhhhh... What possible right does anyone have, to advise us, on how to do our photography????? Harrrrumph.

What beautiful colors you're seeing! The color is WHITE here - snow!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a fun weekend. Sounds busy and the grands will be playing Atari again.
Auntie, it was a joke! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteA friend was just up to northern NB and Maine and took lots of photos of the 100% peak colours there. Fabulous. Upon his return to here he says we are only at 50% peak. I guess the rain has done it's damage in your area which is too bad. My favourite colours are orange, gold and red, in that order. It is very pretty here. Come on over and enjoy our colours. :)
ReplyDeleteI love all of the bright colors of Autumn. The reds, yellows, oranges with evergreens in between for contrast.
ReplyDeleteI also love later in the season when those brilliant colors turn to rust, brown and tan....a softer focus on fall.
I am so jealous as our "color meter" remains low--probably due to lack of rain! However, I have a lovely tray, with beautiful leaves encased in glass, of my time in New England and can attest that Fall really does paint the most amazing scenery there! XOXO
ReplyDeleteOh Vee, what a gorgeous tree!!! I love sugar maples this time of year...our leaves haven't really even started but I'm sure they will very soon ~ I hope you and John are doing wonderful and wish you both a great weekend sweet friend! hugs and love, Dawn
ReplyDeleteMy fav autumn colours are the blended warm hues together - but you are right...the deep scarlet is a favorite most definately.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.
I must be slow but I don't get the step away from the camera comment. The colors are gorgeous, eagerly awaiting them here. It's going to get cold this weekend! Time to switch out the summer for winter clothes. I too am having company and trying to get that room painted so I can get the monument out of the dining room.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your guests!
Your road home looks lovely. Around here I'd say we're nicely getting started with the fall colors. I seem to be seeing a bit more color each day. I enjoy a combination of red, orange, yellow, russet, green & that deep burgundy shade with a backdrop of blue skies filled with puffy white clouds. I don't ask for much, do I? :D
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday to you too.
A spot of constant sunshine for sure! Great photo!
ReplyDeleteThat tree is glowing...
ReplyDeleteWow!
Pretty new Header pic too.
Gentle blog look. (I fear mine is kind of toooooo much, at present. -grin-)

Not much color in northern Missouri due to the drought and the leaves dropping early.
ReplyDeleteThe colors are not as brilliant here this year as last year but I have noticed a few lovely trees. I need to get out with my camera.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have one favorite color of autumn. For me it's the combination of the colors...
ReplyDeleteToday I'm enjoying the fact that Dear is putzing around the house and the garage...
Have a great Thursday, Vee.
I love that color pallet! God is a great artist.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYour road looks so pretty and inviting. I'd love to be walking down it.
ReplyDeleteSome trees turning red, yellow and orange here but many are totally green yet.
Going up to Happy Trails this weekend. Should be more color up there.
My favorite fall colors - red and orange.
One thing I know for sure...when I do come to New England....it will be in Autumn! Beautiful foliage!
ReplyDeleteAll of them are my favorites, but I've got to say, that orange glory in your photo is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteHi Vee,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture!!! How I love Autumn, but we're getting a bunch of rain, too; it's driving me crazy. I would have to say my favorite color for fall trees is orange. We see some around here that look almost like flames with that reddish-orange color, and they always take my breath away -- especially when the sun hits them.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend of celebrating!
Hugs,
Denise at Forest Manor
I don't think our colours are as brilliant as those on the east coast. Beautiful scene...down your lane. Like Ellen...I can't say I have a favorite...just love the potpourri of fall foliage!
ReplyDeleteSome trees have turned a gorgeous yellow, I need to take some photos (bad blogger). We have had 3 days of rain this week. Tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful. xo
ReplyDeleteYour road home pic is beautiful! I love all the colors, but especially the reds and oranges. Oh, I just love everything about fall. But the temp is changing too fast for me. Just the other day we had the a/c on, but this weekend the furnace will have to be turned on.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your upcoming birthday celebrations!
I have to say that the flaming orange and red maples mixed with splashes of yellow pin oak along old down town here are my favorite. Staid old homes flank the sides of the road and it is picture perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove "the road home"!
Enjoy your celebrations, we are doing that here today too. Have a lovely time.
I saw trees getting yellow but not red yet. I need to go to visits parks to see them
ReplyDeleteWe have oranges and yellows but I haven't seen many reds (none that I can think of).
ReplyDeleteWith the drought all summer and then late summer-early fall rains, the powers that be were not certain what our color would be like.
There is still time for the reds to pop, though. My granddaughter tells me where they live in New England, there are mostly yellows and golds.
LOL! ... and nobody will get hurt! At least you and I didn't with my comment on yesterday's post.
ReplyDeleteLet me say emphatically for all the other visitors here - it was most definitely a joke. Vee and I converse outside of the blog and I think we both have a pretty understanding of our collective warped senses of humor. I was practicing some good-natured bantering and celebrating her obvious self-deprecating humor about her photography. Believe me, I have some terrible photos too. I'm just not brave like Vee and willing to post them on the web! I am my own worse critic when it comes to my photo images. I see errors and imperfections in every single one. That is just my nature. I'm very hard on myself, but that's what drives me to improve and get better. So those who have the impression that I have a fat head or somehow full of myself, you couldn't be more wrong. I would like to extend you an invitation to visit my blog and get to know the real me!
So again, everyone. It was a JOKE! Miz Vee knew that, thank goodness. I adore her AND her photography. Now carry on...
And thank you, Miz Vee, for your sweet compliment on my photography. I am so glad that you appreciate my work. {{{hugs}}}
Ah, I forgot my assignment! The leaves are just starting to get some tinges of color. The black gums have already turned reddish, but there aren't many of those around. I adore yellow and red colors the best. Give me vibrant colors!
ReplyDeleteThe colors on your road home sure look pretty! Oh, how lovely it is in your neck of the woods this time of year!
we have TONS of color here right now, and I'm enjoying snapping pictures left and right! I posted a few several days ago as part of my 31 days of Joy. Today the sun is out and I'll log off the computer soon to go get some more. I need enough color to hold me through what is promised to be a LONG winter!
ReplyDeleteWe are coming into spring here and my favourite colour is sunshine at the moment as we had a very cold winter maybe I will change my mind as summer goes from warm to hot to very hot.
ReplyDeleteMerle....
How stunning your capture, Vee. Enjoy your birthday celebrations & company.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend ~

As one who lives where we don't get the wonderful foliage show every year, I think that tree is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy mother has asked if by any chance you live in the Berkshires. I told her I would ask. (She has found and totally enjoys your blog, btw.)
Hi Vee, I enjoy seeing your fall colors. We have 2 maples but so far, not much color. We have been so dry but we did receive 2 in. rain this week. Wishing you much happiness with family and birthday celebrations!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely...
ReplyDeleteThe colors here are the best in years. Hoping to get out with the camera this weekend.
I loves the reds and oranges, too, especially when there's still some green mixed in. Yellow is nice, but it just doesn't quite convey that last burst of life before the leaves turn brown and fall from the trees. Your road home is absolutely beautiful. So many of our leaves have already dried up and fallen due to the drought that I'm afraid I may have to settle for enjoying fall's beauty vicariously. With your wonderful pictures, that's not bad.
ReplyDeleteMargaret
There is just a hint of color coming to our trees here in NYC, Vee. I am determined to go to Central Park this autumn when full color comes in so I can photograph it. Autumn in NYC can be beautiful and I want to enjoy it for one last time.
ReplyDeleteWe're still pretty green around here, but the temps are supposed to get really cool this weekend so I'm thinking that they'll turn to the beautiful reds, yellows and oranges soon.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all the colors!
Enjoy your weekend!
Leann
We still have green trees and green lawns...
ReplyDeleteWe are celebrating grands birthdays again this month...4 for October. We have one large family cookout to celebrate them all, usually.
xoxo
