While I busied myself taking pictures of a Jack-be-Little pumpkin and my bare feet, John busied himself with the final fussy little piece of siding at the tip top.
John at the garage peak and almost finished with this job that took the old garage below
(yes, he built it in 2003)...
to this sweet little number. I love it! (Don't tell me if you don't.)
Oh this doesn't quite give you the details, but let me just thank everyone who *voted with John on the scalloping.* It really does look terrific!
A little better view above...
This is about all the contribution I had to the project—photoshopping. I knew that I didn't like the placement of the former windows (you can see them up there in the third photo) nor the cut out above the garage doors done before John knew that transoms were going in...a last minute decision on someone else's part (not either of us). We do like the transoms a lot so it all turned out in the end. You can see how beautifully John interpreted my ideas and made them so much better!
I was trying to get John to say that the project was good enough for "who it was for." He just wouldn't. Gotta love the little bow he gives me. Sweet, sweet man!
APPLAUSE!!!!!! John did a wonderful job. Gosh, doesn't he get scared up on that ladder so high? Yes, yes, he was very much correct about the scallops. I remember weighing in on the subject too, and agreed with John's assessment. And the single window instead of two - your idea - was also spot on. It all looks so cheerful and positively gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDoes he rent out???!!!!! Wonderful job! And I know you are both glad it is finished!
ReplyDeleteOoops, I forgot to add. That camera strap is supposed to be around your neck, not dangling in front of you like an ugly necklace, LOL. That is your admonishment of the day. Hopefully, it will be the only one you get! Carry on...
ReplyDelete(giggle-snort)
Oh Vee, it looks WONDERFUL!!!! What a beautiful transformation!! Now your garage can stand proudly next to your beautiful home...and John is so sweet, trying to be all vague and such ~ great job John!!! Now you both can cozy up for cooler days ahead ~ hugs and love, Dawn
ReplyDeletelooks great, the scallops look lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! It just looks wonderful....Good work John!
ReplyDeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet home you have!

Deanna
What a gorgeous garage....yes, gorgeous! Love the transoms, the window, the scallops, the color....all of it! Lucky you, bet he's glad it's done! Oh, I also love your pumpkin picture! Have a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteVee and John, it looks beautiful! I love the scalloping and the new window mimics the house. John did a great job! Love the little video and hearing your voice with your Maine accent. :) Made me smile. I bet you're glad the job is done before winter and that John doesn't have to go up that ladder again! Hugs! Pam
ReplyDeleteIt does truly look GREAT! Credit to both you and John who is so willing to translate your ideas (well, both your ideas) into reality! The scallops are lovely, too.
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!!! John is not only a sweet, sweet man, but a talented one too. Really nice work.
ReplyDeleteThe garage was nice enough before, but now it looks more like it belongs to the house and those scallops are like the icing on the cake.
I know you are thrilled to have that job completed...and all done by your very own sweetheart...and with such beautiful results! It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI must confess that I was one of the ones who recommended no scallops on the garage. Might compete with that gorgeous transom window, I opined. But I am glad that you and John didn't listen to me, because it does not diminish the look of the transom. And the scallop trim totally complements that of the house. Perfect.
I would use the finished project as an excuse for a little celebration!
It looks great and I love the scallops!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out fabulous!!!!! John did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteJohn does amazing work. The scallop trim adds a special interest, doesn't it? What will John's next project be? I can't imagine him sitting still very long.
ReplyDeleteIt's been great fun to watch this process.
John did a wonderful job. It looks great.
ReplyDeleteBravo John. It was a lot of work and turned out wonderful. I missed the voting for the scallops, but would have said yes (: and you're a great project manager Vee.
ReplyDeleteFirst... In a comment, you asked; "Is that my house?" You are skimming Dear One. If you read under my Header pic, and under the cute decorated house, in my blog entry.... You would know that neither one, is my house.
ReplyDeleteTsk,tsk,tsk... Caught skimming... -grin-
Of course I *never* skim, reading blogs, myself!!!! Hehhhhhhhhh!!!

It's been fun to watch the transformation of your garage and the result is just perfect! Your little estate looks so cozy and welcoming. The scallops really add that little bit of panache to both buildings. Kudos to John for all the hard work.
ReplyDeleteI loved hearing your voices on the video.
No, not ALL that "This is not my house" was there, then. I just said it once. But then, I figured I needed to make it more visible. -giggggles-
ReplyDeletethe worst part is, I'd love for such a home, to be ours. Cottage, front porch, etc., etc. But sighhhhhh, 'twill never be.
So it only makes me "pout" more, to have anyone think it is mine. -pout-pout-pout-pout-
:-)
"Auntie"

ReplyDeleteJohn is a real craftsman and a good sport! Your garage looks great, as well as your home.
I, too, am glad you listened to me and went with the scallops:)They
really add charm and connect the two buildings.
You both should take a bow--your hubby is a real craftsman and this project turn out beautifully. The garage looks perfect next to the house now and makes it seem as it was always a part of it. XOXO

Yes his gentified flourish in the end of the vid is priceless.
Fantastic!! I really love it, Vee. I also loved seeing this video of your John. He reminds me so much of my father! He kind of looks like him, but more than that he has his mannerisms. Dad's (CT) dialect is just slightly different but close too.
ReplyDeleteAgain, it 's a great job.
What a great guy you have there, Vee! The garage looks great...I love the scallops! It makes me nervous to see people on ladders, I consider anyone on one a brave soul! ;-D

Jane
