Four Tag

Sandi tagged me yesterday. Again. She doesn't think that she'd ever tagged me before, but look here and here. It's all good. I think this Four Tag MEME is a fun one and don't forget to go read Sandi's...they're a hoot!

Jobs I have had in my life:

1. first job...apple picking

2. second job...seed weighing at the local hardware

3. third job...cashiering

4. fourth job...teaching

Movies I have/would watch over and over again:

1. Gone with the Wind

2. The Notebook

3. The Sound of Music

4. A Christmas Story

Places I have lived:

1. Virginia

2. My home state

3. Oklahoma

4. Arizona

People I want to slap right into the middle of next week:

1. Any driver who pulls out in front of me at the last possible second and doesn't step on the gas.

2. Any member of the media who betrays his/her bias, also any member of the media who says "Mr" instead of "President." Oh, and any weather reporter who tells me to "button up."

3. Any person who chews gum in my ear while talking on the phone.

4. Anyone who uses a cell phone inappropriately. I have a long list of what and where is inappropriate. I used to treat these folks as if they were speaking
in a telephone booth by lowering my voice and tiptoeing around them. Not any more. Expect me to grab whatever I need from the grocery shelves whether you're chatting away in front of the olives or not.

People who email me regularly:

1. my mother
2. my daughter
3. my daughter-in-law
4. my friends

TV shows I watch— Fictional:
1. LOST
2. Grey's Anatomy
3. Desperate Housewives
4. ??? brain spasm...can't think of any others

TV shows I watch— Nonfictional:

1. Ellen
2. Dr. Phil
3. Lawrence Welk (still after all these years...thank you MPBN!)
4. Sometimes the news shows... 20-20 types

Places I have visited:

1. Niagara Falls
2. The Grand Canyon
3. Grand Manan Island
4. Washington, D.C.

Favorite Foods:

1. lasagna
2. Paska (gee, thanks, Judy and Lovella!)
3. prime rib with baked potatoes topped with melting butter and sour cream and a big leafy green salad with Olive Garden dressing
4. any kind of dessert...I love them all...never met a candy bar that I didn't like either

Where I want to be right now:

1. I'm perfectly content at home, but...
2. at the lake or the ocean
3. in the theater
4. at a concert

Things I'm looking forward to this year:

1. watching the grandsons grow
2. blogging
3. finding my purpose in life (it's about time, say what?!)
4. Thanksgiving and Christmas

Now, in a definite shift from rebellion, I am actually naming four people to do this MEME in no particular order:

1. http://millefiorifavoriti.blogspot.com/

2. http://shockingpinkthread.blogspot.com/

3. http://windlost.blogspot.com/

4. and last, but not least, http://happyoneat.blogspot.com/. Happyone is so happy that I am eager to see how she'll respond to people slapping. LOL!

What a difference a day makes—yesterday gray and foggy...

Today—sunny and bright (also danged cold and windy).

Last Sunday, two dear bloggers gave me this award. Happyone and Me of Charli and Me. There's a huge difference between the two sets of rules:

Happyone's: This is not meant as a tag but just to say your blogs are great and if you want to pass it along please do. I enjoy all the blogs that I read and here are just 5 of them.

Me's: The recipient must agree to award it to at least ten people whose blogs are found to be worthy of an Excellent Blog Award. The award may be given to more than ten blogs, to a blog that has already received one or to the person or blog from whence it came. The blogger who gave the award must be notified that it is accepted with the conditions imposed. Then the names of the blogs must be listed and those bloggers must be notified that an award has been received.

This is an honor that I do not take lightly. I will be passing on this award and that's going to require some thought. I have no time for thought this morning so I shall return to this at some future date. Thank you to both Happyone and Charli and Me for enjoying spending time here. I am grateful.

A wonderful Wednesday to you all!

  1. Jay Leno did a joke last night telling us that the medical community now says there is a link between cell phone use and cancer. He said that the good news is that all those obnoxious cell phoners will soon be dead. I know, it is a terrible joke but honestly I did have a giggle.

  2. I feel I am in good company on that purpose for life thing, I thought I might be the only one who did not know! Fun facts!

Ditto on the cell phone thing, I have heard some very enlightening conversations on the grocery isles that were best saved for privacy! Maybe we should gang up and ban them from public use like smoking. Perhaps there can be cell phone zones where the users can all stand a babble together. OK, enough ranting on the cell phone deal!

I have a real reason to dislike them ~ a few years ago around Christmas time I was crossing from the sidewalk to my vehicle, which was parked next to the crosswalk, when a woman talking on her cell phone, driving one of those huge dualie trucks, looking the opposite direction to see if she could beat oncoming traffic, gunned her engine, pulling into the crosswalk and hit me, narrowly missing an elderly couple who right behind me!!!! I was not a happy camper to say the least! I suffered some broken ribs, bruises, cuts, scrapes, and body aches that lasted for weeks!

Being vertically challenged, she said she didn't see me, until she hit me with her big old Ford truck, just the top of my head and the scream that erupted from me on impact. She didn't see me because she was distracted talking on the phone and busy trying to outrun any oncoming traffic. Witnesses said she never even looked at the crosswalk, she just gunned her engine and pulled out.

I do have a cell phone but I don't talk on in public or while driving. If someone does call I wait until I get back to my car to check and see who it is and what they need. My phone is for emergency use only and trust me I could live without it, I did for many years. Sometimes I'd like to toss it into the sea so I could have some peace and privacy and not be tracked down!

Ooops, I took up much space in your comments! Guess I get a little passionate about the subject! Happy Wednesday to you too!

  3. Omigosh, Miss Sandy! That's outrageous! I am so sorry that such a thing happened to you. Have you had any permanent damage, residual struggles? Yup, this kind of thing just makes me furious.

  5. Well, you covered a lot of territory this morning!

I gather your paska must have turned out! Mine is all gone until next Easter.

Would you believe I have never watched Lost or Grey's Anatomy? I watched Desperate Housewives a few times last season. I don't wacth a whole lot besides the news.

My cell phone is not usually with me...I haven't quite caught on to that whole thing. When I need it, I can't find it. And when I do, it needs recharging! I would be in favour of banning cell phone use while driving...I've seen too many close calls.

Where is Grand Manan Island? Do a blog on it sometime!

Enjoy your sun...you can get outside and dig in your snow! I'm sorry for you that you still have snow.

  9. Hi Vee! I love your blog. I have to chuckle, because I just looked at some of your profile and I have to tell you...I ADORE anything by E.B.White (including his grammar books), I have, on my desk right this very minute, James Harriet's book, All Things Wise and Wonderful. I also love To Kill a Mockingbird, both book and movie (one of the first books I ever remember reading and I read in on my own)...Thanks for visiting my blog. I am going back to yours right now to read more...

I am grateful for your message to me as no one visits my blog because I don't know how to get in the loop! But, all the stuff you do is FUN and CREATIVE and I am jealous! LOL

  11. I may be the last person on the planet who does not have a cell phone, nor do I plan on getting one. I long ago gave up on trying to be polite to cell phone users in any shopping environment...no no, they do not need to be discussing anything with anyone unless they are on 911 having a heart attack...when I go shopping, I'm happy that my phone is home...oh, and you too can be an Idol fan, it's on Fox Tuesday and Wednesday...try it just once! I'm pretty sure Fox is available via the antennae...we have no choice but to have satelite, the closest tv station to us is 72 miles!
    hugs

  13. Awwwww....blue sapphire? Beautiful stone, actually my birthstone, but are your "blue" today? I laughed at your personal facts. I'm thinking you are blue today because a car pulled out in front of you and applied their brakes instead of the gas! So funny! Thanks for commenting on my blog! Hope to hear from you again, soon! 23. Vee,

Just wanted to thank you so much for your prayers for my friend with breast cancer. Thanks to mammography I have both a mother-in-law and now this friend who have survived it, so far. You are a very special person; I really enjoyed reading your "four tag" entries! Oh, the things we learn...

    Blessings,
    Christi
