The White, Green, Black, and Herb of Tea
Tell about your favorite tea. How do you prepare it and serve it? Milk and sugar? Plain? What are some of your best memories of serving or sipping on this tea? Share a picture if you can. Tell the health benefits of the tea(s) you prefer. Where do you purchase your tea? Is there someplace you enjoying purchasing tea from? Who from and where?
Is it time to confess that my favorite hot beverage is coffee? Two cups of hazelnut coffee with cream and Splenda every morning or else I'm going to have a headache-y day.
Since coffee is my favorite hot beverage, an Earl Grey or breakfast tea is usually my tea of choice for its robust, full flavor. Besides, a breakfast tea has the same effect as the coffee with all that caffeine.
My dear blogging pal Sandi first told me about Yorkshire tea right here. It has become my very favorite tea of all. It is smooth and perfect and I drink it between the hours of three and five every afternoon, usually with cream and sweetener. Although Sandi was perfectly willing to send me some, I was able to find it at T.J. Maxx and, so far, keeping all fingers crossed, I've been able to find it every time I need more.
Yorkshire tea is made by Taylors of Harrowgate in England. You can read more about it at the web site I've included. There's a great little article there about the health benefits of tea as well.
My next favorite beverage is Nestlé green tea in a bottle. This I sip nearly all day long. When I gave up soda a few years ago, I made the switch to green tea. Love it!
The remainder is the odd assortment of teas: Oolong (Bigelow), Vanilla Chai (Bigelow), Green Tea (Tetley) Honey and Lemon Green Tea (Tetley) and a few loose tea bags of odds and ends in the cupboard. You'll note that I am not a fan of loose tea leaves. I am certainly not a tea connoisseur.
When I serve tea in my little Corelle tea pot there (the beautiful tea pots have left the building), I boil water to warm the pot, boil fresh water for the actual tea, replace the warm water with the hot water and add three or four tea bags. Nothing to it.
Now that La Tea Dah has that danged Mr. Linky working, you can join the rest of the tour right here.

I have never heard of Yorkshire tea. I will have to check that out! Thanks for coming over and visiting me! Hope to see you again soon. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAs I sit here sipping my plain ol' Lipton tea this morning, I'm tempted to slip into the kitchen and choose a more exotic or exciting flavor! : ) I'll be on the lookout for the Yorkshire tea also!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Jan
I love my Yorkshire tea so much, I hoard it except for friends...if you need a cup, just send me an email, I'm that close! Green tea in a bottle...I haven't tried that, though EvilSister has...she swears by it...I may have to give it a try since there are now 2 of you singing praises!!! Love ya pal
ReplyDeleteSandi
I love coffee in the morning too. I will be trying Yorkshire tea. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteMmmm, wish I were there with you now taking tea from your humble little pot! It is a bit chilly here today and a hot cup of tea sounds delicious. I have never tried Yorkshire tea, I'll put it on my to do list! Have a happy Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI'm a coffee girl too...although I do like premade commercial ice tea as well....I tried to drink hot tea when I was pregnant with my first...but when you've been a lifelong coffee drinker-tea just doesn't sit right with the taste buds...
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Very nice post. You can always have coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon like many Brits do!
ReplyDeleteHi Vee,
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of us morning coffee drinkers who enjoy the whole idea of tea anyway :)
I'm an Earl grey fan too. Thanks for the TJMax tip for that tea. I'll be on the lookout! Enjoy...
Hi Vee - I used to LOVE tea and coffee when I was in my 20's. For the last 30 years I've not been able to enjoy anything with caffeine. EVEN Chocolate!!! It's hard to do without, but it'll send my arrythmia into orbit! I love to smell the aroma of fresh coffee when I make it for my husband - especially right after I open the new container. Hope they have coffee in heaven and I'll get to enjoy it there! Vickie
ReplyDeleteI'm missing a trick here. Why is it that I always post .. go to visit other bloggers and see that they are all having a party and I missed it. I would have posted my tea too had I been clever enough to visit first and then post. Is that what others do?
ReplyDeleteAnyhows. ..my favorite tea is made by Mighty Leaf tea and I love the Green tea tropical.
Nice post! My favorite tea is Stash Chai. Followed by Stash Earl Grey. My favorite tea memory is the first time we had "high tea" with the little cucumber sandwiches and cream puffs, etc. We were at Victoria Falls and a baboon came and swiped some sandwiches from our table. We let him have them...
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Yorkshire tea, but I'll have to check it out. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteTonight I'm posting for the tea blog-a-thon. When I do....I planned to say my favorite tea is Yorkshire Gold! I'm putting the pot on right now! ~Kathy
ReplyDeleteAha...I always knew we were kindred spirits! When I invite you for tea...I'll actually serve you coffee...and you will be secretly happy.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that...I shall have to try out some of your wonderful teas. The whole tea thing is such a great production...and I'm learning lots from all you tea connoisseurs. Thanks for the tips!
Vee, I just love the new header photo! And as for tea, my long-standing favorite is Constant Comment, but my new favorite is definitely Bigelow's Vanilla Chai. It is soooo yummy! For a lighter, just-before-bed tea I always love Celestial Seasoning's Sleepytime. But I am definitely a coffee drinker, too, with my favorite being Millstone's Vanilla Nut Cream. What a fun discussion... I must try the Yorkshire.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Christi
I've just been to read about Yorkshire Tea and i plan a trip to find some! Thanks Vee! Great post...Kathy
ReplyDeleteI'm hooked on Starbuck's sweet wild orange TAZO tea. I love coffee but am to lazy to make it!

Darly
Hi Vee!
ReplyDeleteI love coffee and tea. I drink coffee in the morning. Illy coffee. It is from Italy. It has less acid through the brewing process and is WONDERFUL. www.illy.com.
As for tea. I like all kinds of tea. Twinnings teas are one brand I buy. I also love going to a tea room for tea.
Hugs,
Penny
I enjoyed reading your tea post. I have the Yorkshire tea, but it isn't my favorite, I think because it gets strong really fast! The Brits love strong tea! I have a friend who loves it and I serve it to her often!
ReplyDeleteKatherine
I like Earl Grey tea with a bit of lemon and honey....Wishing you the best Wednesday ever...
ReplyDeleteYes, thankfully I did get the Mr. Linky to work! Frustration plus for me this week!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved your post! Yorkshire tea is one of my all-time favorites! I find it at a British market nearby and at my favorite 'kitchen gadget' shop. I prefer the loose tea, but one of my friends buys it in tea bags and finds that more convenient.
So glad you shared! Thanks for an interesting post!
LaTeaDah
a) I too have to start the day of with coffee
ReplyDeleteb) what a great variety of teas you drink!
and c) i LOVE your cat! :-)
Morning! Hope that those of you who'd really like to try the Yorkshire tea find it easily. Yes, it does get strong, but if you're a coffee lover, you'll appreciate it or if you're the frugal sort...more cups of tea per bag.
ReplyDeleteC.C., I wish that you were participating in this event because I can only imagine the delightful tales that you could tell us surrounding your tea adventures! You make me laugh!
And anyone else who has not yet participated should join us! It's a lot of fun; you can start where you are...no need to go back and start from the beginning. Jan, you have some tea stories from your recent trip, I just know it!
Thanks, everyone, for your comments!
Oh no! All of us tea bloggers are confessing to be coffee drinkers. At least it's out of the closet :).
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Yorkshire tea but I'll have to go see if I can find some. Thanks for the tip about TJ Maxx. I'll check on my way home. Have a great day.
"Is it time to confess that my favorite hot beverage is coffee?"
ReplyDeleteYes, 'tis time! ,-) Mine would be coffeeeeeee. But health issues have messed that up. So, I have decaf.
We do what we gotta' do.
And no, I've not yet learned to like tea. But then, I've not yet gotten any goooooood tea. So, there's hope yet! ;-)

The Yorkshire tea sounds incredible. I like the Bigelow Vanilla Chai as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely photo! And we won't count it against you that you like coffee! I LOVE the smell of coffee. I don't like it's taste, but it's smell is just heavenly!
ReplyDeleteI too am a coffee drinker...but I do enjoy a good cuppa. I prefer loose leaf but will drink other types with the exception of instant, do they even make that any longer?
ReplyDeleteSeems like Yorkshire Tea is making the rounds, I will have to look into trying it!!
ReplyDeleteWell where shall I start - as soon as I rise I have a mug of PG Tips Decaff Pyramid Bag tea with milk and a splenda.
ReplyDeleteAfter lunch I will always have a herbal or green tea. My faves are Tazo Sweet Cinnamon Spice, Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice, Celestial Seasonings Wild Raspberry or just good old Organic Green Tea, no milk or splends with these.
In the evening I will always drink Twinings Earl Grey (my all time fave tea) with milk and splenda. Sometimes I have Bengal Spice agai as it warms my cold feet and hands!I also have another fave Yogi Tea Stomach Ease with Fennel, Liquorice and Cardamom, which aids digestion or settles a tummy.
Yep I am tea addict but then I am a Brit', even if no longer living there :-)
Hi Vee,
ReplyDeletethanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment on my posts about drinking tea. I've enjoyed reading your 'tea' posts, as well as lots of other interesting things about You! I laughed to read about you stitching four tea towels on inferior fabric and then saying you couldn't send them to anyone. Rubbish!! I would treasure them, as I treasure ALL hand stitched items, even poorly stitched ones by little children just starting out!
It's a cute little teapot. But, don't depend too much on the caffeine in tea to wake you up. When compared cup for cup, there's about a fourth as much in the tea as in the coffee.
