A Haven for Vee

Grumble, Grumble, Complain, Complain

That's right! If you don't want to start your day on a sour note, scurry along to another blog. You've had fair warning!

So, this morning, at 6:30, the street cleaners came through to collect all those piles of dirt in the street. Six freakin' thirty! (This might be a good thing if I had gone to bed at a reasonable hour, but I went to bed at 1:30 am.)

K-Mart has not been keeping its shelves stocked with my favorite flour sacks for making embroidered towels. This means that I purchased inferior ones from the other "mart" and now I have made four (yes four!) lousy tea towels that I can't possibly-ossibly send to anyone. Grrrr...

And, I am such a goose that I forgot how to bind the tape even though I've done it about a dozen times now so I have ruined bias tape all over fourteen counties.

Then I started a new habit of reading before blogging, but this morning I'm blogging before reading and now my whole day is going to be fried not to mention scrambled.

My mother has an appointment for a painful medical procedure this afternoon and I must drive her. I am grateful that my mother is still with me and that I am available to drive her anywhere, but I am so not good with painful medical procedures, especially my mother's.

Okay, that's about all that I can handle myself so I'll quit. Time to chill with my morning devotions. Now why didn't I do that first?

  1. Oh, my, Vee, fried not scrambled, that does sound dire. I do know what you mean though as I am such a creature of habit that even my dogs know exactly what to expect at any given moment of the day.

I'm sorry that your mother must have a painful procedure today. I have read that holding someone's hand at those times really helps the patient relax and better tolerate what's going on. Even if you can't be by her side during the procedure, holding her hand before and after will help both of you.

  2. There must be some bad mojo going around today. I'm very sorry you're having so many issues all piled on top of each other. I'm in your corner because this is turning out to be an equally challenging morning around here. I'm going to go take a hot bath and have a good cry. Maybe we can meet for tea later.

  5. Vee, it sounds like you are having an upside down sort of day and I am sorry to hear that. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers today.

We might be good company today as I woke up a Ms. Cranky Pants myself, must be something in the air. This is a rare occurrence for me.

I will pray for your mother also and I better start where you left off in your post, with morning devotions. I hope your day gets better.

  6. Oh sweet friend (((hugs))) to you on this difficult morning! As Suzanne said, it must be going around. I try to think that we have to have the tough times to make us appreciate the good times. It's an easy thing to say, but a really hard thing to believe at times. I'll be praying for your mother today in hopes that here pain will be minimal. Poor dear.
Take care and tomorrow MUST be a better day!

  8. Awww Vee. I'm so sorry about your rough morning...well, maybe it'll get nothing but better! I hate that your mom has to go through a painful procedure today. I had to do that once with my mother too ~ I pray that it will go wonderfully and with minimal pain for your sweet mother...Did you embroider on your tea towels that aren't the best quality? Maybe frame the embroidered part to repurpose?? Wishing you a wonderful rest of the day, xxoo, Dawn

  10. Whew...now that you got rid of that heavy load, you're up for the challenge of the day!

Sorry about your mom...hope all is well there.

What are you doing up until the wee hours? Midnight would be very late for me! I had to get up VERY early today to spend my time on the phone with the 'airmiles' people...who totally messed up flight itineraries I booked yesterday. And my pet peeve is talking to machines rather than people.

Have a fine day, Vee! May it end off on a brighter note than it began.

  11. Good morning, friend - ME TOO! I've already had my pity party and good cry this morning, then kicked myself in the seat of the pants and got myself down on my knees to count my blessings. I'm sorry you're having a bad day and this afternoon doesn't look for you either. But your dear mom, I know, is SO thankful for you and your love and care for her. I pray that God will give you peace and serenity today and the knowledge that you are a blessing to her (and so many others including US!) I pray for her procedure to go well, and be as painless as possible and that the Lord will comfort her. Take care, friend - Vickie

  12. I just wanted to add that I absolutely LOVE your banner - I love that it looks so American, so small-town, so quaint, so summery. I would love to come to your house!!! I'm glad you put it back up! Vickie

  13. Well when you start the day off wrong it can only get better. :-)
    Really like your new header!!
I hate when the street cleaners come around here. They don't pick anything up with their big brushes, they just brush everything from the gutter out to the middle of the street and then the cars ride over it and it just goes back in the gutter. Seems a waste of time.

  14. well, all I can say is from your picture you are a sweet looking goose? What? it is not a self portrait?..oh...

I wish the street sweepers would show up and get the gravel off our roads...I would feel more confident trying to corner on my "bike".

And, sleep?...don't even get me started. I am a total insomniac... but it is getting worse each week it seems. I live on a few hours of sleep. Last night I went to bed at 12:30 ... tossed and turned and almost cried... the final time I looked at the damn (yes, damn!!) clock...it said 3:47...and I had yet to get even close to dozing.... most of my days are grumpy.

I send some hugs for your poor Mom.... hope all goes well for her.

  15. Oh Vee! I'm sorry today is not a good one for you! I've had my share lately too. :-(

I hope all goes well with your Mom's procedure this afternoon.
When you get home have a nice cup of tea and repeat "serenity now" five times in a row taking deep breaths ....let it all go....I know it's a joke form the old Sienfeld TV show, but it really works! If that doesn't help, put on a good comedy and laugh away some troubles.

I love your new blog header too!

    Hugs, Pat

-Speaking of the other "marts", I've got to drive to another town tomorrow to get chocolate for molds, because THE MART hasn't restocked in two weeks!!! UGHHH!

I hope your mom came through her procedure okay. That is so hard.

  25. Sweet Vee,

I know what you mean. I do not go to bed to the wee hours of the morning also. This morning the garbage pick-up that is usually at noon came by at 6:00 a.m.. I was not a happy camper. Went back to sleep finally and the phone rang at 7:30 with a wrong number. Terrible!!!!

I will be praying for you and your Mother!!! I also will pray for you to get a good night of rest. I am sure the towels are beautiful if you created them!!!

Smiles and hugs to you my friend....

  26. You all bless my socks off!

Yesterday, when my mother returned to the waiting room, she was wearing a big old smile...not her usual after these appointments. The doctor had said that all was well and nothing had to be done before July. Now, I am attributing all of this to your prayers. Thank you so much! (We even went shopping and out to lunch, despite the fact that my mom was a little "loopy." She takes some sort of medication that settles her enough to endure the procedure.) I'm putting this in my journal as a way to remember what God can do.

Hope to get around to visit all of you today at some point!

  28. Oh Vee, even in your troubles you put a big smile on my face :). Not at your expense but just knowing others have lemonade days as well :). I bet the two of us could make a great pitcher of lemonade right now! LOL :)

    Prayers are upon you!

  29. Hope your mother did okay with her medical procedure. We have a trash truck that collects a neighbor's trash anywhere from 6:15 a.m to 6:30 a.m. It wakes the dogs up and they become quite vocal. I'd call to complain, but there's no name on the truck and I don't want to ask the neighbor. Stuff like this is annoying, isn't it?
