Precious in the sight of the Lord is the homecoming of His saints. ~Psalm 116:15
Many of you may have read that Dottie Rambo was tragically killed in a bus accident a week ago. You can read more about that here at Gaither.com.
Dottie Rambo has written many, many wonderful hymns of the church. Perhaps you have sung them; I have. My favorite is "He Looked Beyond My Fault and Saw My Need," which is set to the music "Danny Boy." As I was looking for more information about the song, I found this wonderful background story. I know that when you have time, you'd be blessed to read it at Christianity Today. (This page no longer exists at CT; however, the story can be found here.)
David Phelps sings one of my favorite versions of the song here. It is a powerful testimony to a grace this big, a love so strong, a God who can forgive this much.
A beautiful Sunday to you all. (I'm heading for the ocean with my daughter today. Yes, I'll take my camera.)
I have enjoyed reading through your blogs. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry to hear that she was killed.
ReplyDeleteVee - have a great day with your daughter. The ocean...it sounds so wonderful. We are land-locked, thousands and thousands of miles from an ocean. Sigh.

Amazing Grace indeed, one of my all time favorite hymns, it's on my funeral list :). Dottie is definitely a loss for earth but heaven has gained an angel :).

ReplyDeleteI will be looking forward to seeing your day with your daughter.
We recycle too but done't think it affects our taxes.
Have not seen any secret messages on verification code. Not even sure what you mean.
It's good to crop when you want to just show the particular subject without distractions.
Oh my gosh Vee, I've seen Dottie Rambo many times on the 700 club and TBN etc... I did not know about the accident. How sad, I just read the right up that you listed in your post this morning. So sad, I will remember the family in prayer. Thanks for sharing this news with all of us.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of all the beach days we had as kids growing up at the Cape, my favorite, have fun at the beach today, I'm there in spirit--
"Amazing Grace" has always been meaningful to me too. I enjoyed this post, even though it contained sad news.
ReplyDeleteVee, thank you for your post today. I too have enjoyed her music all my life yet never really looked up who the writer was. Imagine my surprise when I posted this week noting a song I love, "Remind me Dear Lord" and I found out she had died just this week. So sad. She has truly written some wonderful music.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your day at the Ocean....lucky you. Send us pictures in tomorrow's post.
So sad to hear of her passing...her legacy will live on in her songs. I too enjoyed, "He looked beyond my fault..."...and manyu others I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a perfect beach day out there today...hope you had a good one!
She was a great artist my favorite is "Behold the Lamb".... I can just hear her singing it....
ReplyDeleteHave a great day at the beach
