The Home Land

One sunny May morning years ago at my first yard sale of the season, I found this little picture. It was priced right at twenty-five cents and that remains the best quarter I've ever spent. Here are the words:

The Home Land

Think ~

Of stepping on shore and finding it Heaven;
Of taking hold of a hand and finding it God's hand;
Of breathing new air and finding it Celestial air;
Of feeling invigorated and finding it immortality;
Of passing from storm and tempest to an unbroken calm;
Of waking up ~ and finding it HOME!

"In my Father's house are many mansions." John 14:2

Today's post is dedicated to Miss Sandy and her beautiful grandmother who now makes Heaven her home.

  1. I'm going to be attending a funeral this afternoon. While I didn't know the lady who died (her family are neighbors), it will nevertheless be a comfort to remember those words.

  4. Those are such comforting words.
    My father died in the month of May in 1999.
    My grandmother (the one with the lilacs) died in May too.

  5. Such lovely words to share! I'm not sure that's something I would have put in a garage sale, but lucky for you someone did! And at the best price!

  9. Very comforting words. But you've mentioned "My Father's Mansion" and now I'm off to listen to "This is My Father's World"....at least 12 more times!

    I'm very sorry to hear about Miss Sandy's grandmother.

  16. I've thought about the 'homeland' many times this week as Mother's Day approaches...and I think of our two moms who are there. It's a lovely poem...a comforting reminder to all of us who have recently lost loved ones.
