Forgive Me While I Play

I made the fantastic leap yesterday afternoon to the new templates design letting go of my beloved mimima stretch background. I could rarely find satisfactory backgrounds for the minima stretch, which led to my decision. So watch me bounce all over the place today as I experiment hoping to land on something to my liking. The day is bright and sunny and that will make for better photography. Let's see where this takes us in another few hours.

Too Dark; Too Somber
7:31 am

 In the meantime, my apologies...

***
Also, don't mind my ongoing commentary as I work this through. One of my big complaints is that the screen flickers black, black, black as the page loads. Ugh. If I can't fix that problem, I'll be heading back to minima stretch.

***
Now doesn't one thing lead to another? I had to make a new header, which meant that I had to redo the top of the china cupboard, which meant that I had to dust and clean and vacuum, which ultimately led to having to do the dishes.

I'm having trouble centering my header despite using the code for the Advanced CSS. You can find that information *here* if it might help you. Doesn't seem to be doing much for me.

***
Gah! I quit. And it's not quite what I want, but as close as I can get today. What I've learned one could put in a thimble. This (at the time...you can find it *here*) background is a wide-width one from Hot Bliggity Blog. When I use the standard size, I get a bit of decoration at the sides, but my sidebar material hangs over. I'm not a fan of that look. When I use the mid-size, I don't pick up much of the background at all, hence some of the truly ugly colors you may have seen. Oh well! Another day...

  1. Oh, Vee... I am experimenting too, but offline. I am scared to change, but feel it's time! I'd also like to keep more updated with the seasons. Good luck! I'll be watching!

  3. LOL!!! Watch out Vee!!! We can't be twins, separated at birth. Even though we seem to be doing some stuff, at the same time... Ah la... we were both flipping around, in New Editor.

But! And it's an ever scarier thought! Maybe I'm your Mother-of-Sorts. -grinnnnnnnnnn- Now THAT ISSSS scary hu? -giggles-

OK! Not really your Mother! Just somehow, we are connected, on the plane of blog stuff experimentation. There! That's not so scary, is it??? ,-)

I did just jump to New Blogger Templates, and forgo my *beloved* Stretch Minima. Just like you did. And for the same reason... We get so tired of the blahhhhh stuff available for Stretch Minima.

But look! I also am learning how to grab the Backgrounds, given by Blogger!!!! And so far, have not mastered how to put a free-some-place-else background on. But! I'll keep trying!!!!!!

Whewwww... I'm feeling better. Thank you. 'Cause this weather has me pretty down-down-down-down-down. -pout- In fact, -pout- is the Subject of my today's post. LOL.

And something, to make you clap! By tomorrow's post, I think I'll have taken Comment Ver. setting off! Wheeeeeee. I know you hate it, but I HAD to do it, at the time.

Off I go.... To have to go out and walk on this ..... "shit". But the parking lot should be cleared. :-)

  4. I love this background and it didn't load with the black at all. I have problems with my blog loading on a purple screen. I've researched and don't know how to correct it. Any thoughts?

  5. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with......
I betcha you'll have a fun and creative day!

  6. Well, Vee...the picture didn't flicker for me. It came right up. But, let me tell you....mine does funny things when I'm loading on to my blog and others can't see it - so I don't know what it's all about.

I like the way that your colors are. The blog looks crisp. Keep playing, you'll have a lot of fun with this new template designer - there is ALL KINDS of possibilities with it :)

  7. Maybe it's something to do with the restlessness of spring, but I've been playing with my blog, too. I put up a new header photo and had fits trying to center it.
With your link to the CSS instructions, it was a breeze to fix! Thanks for that.
But now, I see there are many other customizations I can do...that I don't really have time for.

Your blog looks great at 8:29 PST. I'll check back later!

  9. I'll gladly forgive you for playing. It's always fun to see what fresh new look can be found. I am loving your touches of robin's egg blue in your header and background. So bright and springy. Have fun.

  10. Hi Vee, have fun playing around with your blog! Sounds like fun. I enjoy seeing all the different looks out there in blogland. As for me, today I have to get back to my closet cleaning. And it's NOT fun! Have a good one, Cheryl

  13. Vee,

Must be that time of year! I am redoing and playing with the blog features. Sometimes I have had to just get up and walk away.

I like your new look and your picture!

  14. It loaded perfectly for me Vee and I love your new look! It is funny how one thing leads to another. I have taken pictures, thinking they look great and when I load them up I see bread crumbs on the counter, or dust on the table...lol

  16. I thought your post was titled 'Forgive me while I pray...'. That really caught my attention///but I see you are playing...not praying! I'm playing as well...with my wee granddaughter who is serving me morning tea (make that coffee!).

It all looks good to me, Vee!

  17. LOL, Judy! I'd never ask for forgiveness while I pray. Wait a minute...that doesn't quite sound right either. ;>

  18. Hi Vee, Thank you so much for stopping by. I love your new background and header. They look very pretty indeed. Here we are ready for spring! I heard a flock of geeze this morning that gave me hope LOL Charli is doing well. She is busy always getting into everything and then on the other hand so sweet ♥ I hope you are well. I miss this blog world of ours. I will be going back to the docs in april and we will see. Thank you for thinking of us. You and your family remain in my prayers. Happy Paczki day!

  19. It's like trying to find the perfect purse. There's no perfect template either.

  20. it's very peaceful and pretty. i'm scared
to touch anything, as whenever i do, i
    lose something.

  21. It looks lovely as I'm seeing it right now! I know what you mean, it is hard to give up those old templates and it takes time to come up with a new "look." I chuckled to hear how one thing led to another and soon you were cleaning the whole room for your header picture, which, by the way, is fabulous! Still Vee's touch and very welcoming!

  22. Tues. 3:40PM Checking back in, to read your updates, and see how it looks now. :-)

As of now, it's a kind of a soft, blue scrolls. Not the pretty yellow, of earlier.

As to centering Header pic, I give up. :-) Notice that many people do not worry about Header pic being centered, with New Blogger. So, why should I? -giggles-

Courage, to both of us, in this New Editor Blogger Saga! :-)

    Gentle hugs...

  23. I think it's fun to change the blog look around.

At least you got all that extra work done! :-)

  24. I change mine every time the wind blows and can never do the same thing twice but I love fooling with it. You blog is looking good. I am going back and read CSS. I see that on the template list but have no idea what it is. It is free and it is fun. Keep at it.

  25. I popped in this morning and did not have time to really study what you were doing. So, I am back but dinner is nearly done so I have to run again...however, I am seeing some changes and love your new header....even with that "other" candle in it. LOL

    Love,
    Becky K.

  26. Vee,
I've switched back and forth before too. I still prefer the minima stretch because I didn't like the way the new templates loaded. I don't like being confined by these new templates.
I would love to take a class on websites and learn to do more myself.
    Hugs,
    Cathie

  29. I like your new look and new header, Vee!

I'll have the same old blog forever because I'm afraid to change it much except for the header photo, but then I've had the same house my whole marriage and and almost all the same furniture, so I guess I'm a "one track mind" kind of gal...lol

  30. Love your new header Vee and I also share your frustration with the new templates! Ahhh....good luck!

  31. Loving your new header, even if it did cause you to do the dreaded....housework. :)

There's tons of backgrounds thru Blogger that you might like, all the while keeping our beloved and needed, white center.

Also, come get the Word Verification Free Blog button on my sidebar. Let's spread it everywhere and maybe we can knock out WF.
