What does it mean when we wix our mords up? I've done it three times today and it's making me nervous.
I just told the dog to be careful because "the slips are steppery." This morning I wrote on my calendar that Molly had a grooming appointment at Puddy Maws instead of Muddy Paws.
It does remind me that we had dear friends whose names were Percy and Gert. They often became Gercy and Pert. Oh well! Word fun. Brain scrambled.
Do you have any fun examples?
Have a great day...
One of our family stories is when we were visiting a pastor friend at his church one time and in his sermon he was talking about not feeling well. Instead of describing how he felt as being "weak and puny" it came out "puke and weany"
ReplyDeleteWe now use that phrase whenever one of us isn't feeling well!
How funny! I frequently have trouble deciphering words that are spoken. My brain doesn't hear the right words, but makes them up! The other day, someone on tv was referred as "not tall". I thought they said "nutball"!
ReplyDeleteGlad it's not just me! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any specifics, but I do regularly forget what I'm trying to say altogether.
ReplyDeleteGreat examples!
Girl that's normal for me! I'm glad to see that I'm not alone.
ReplyDeleteI also hear things wrong..completely different than what I should have heard!
Now, if you hear the dog correct you when you mix up your words, you might consider getting some 'help'! LOL
If you're going to mix up words, do a good job...... and you did!!! Cute...
ReplyDeleteRight now my brain is too deflated to think of my mix of words.
Hi Vee!
ReplyDeleteOh dear! I think we all do that at one time or another! My daughter's name is Jessie and her husbands name is Ben. We always call them Jen and Bessy . . . they hate it!
Hugs,
Barb
You are not alone!
ReplyDeleteOh tooooooooooo many times...and then I never get my kids names right...all six of them, and usually in front of people, as if I don't remember what I named them...at least I don't use the dog's name in exchange for a kid's name...too funny!
ReplyDeleteThis so funny Vee, No i am not going to admit my age!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend.
Hugs,
Sue
I do that alot but can't remember any right off hand. I also call my kids and grandkids using someone else's name instead of their own. I now know how someone feels that has had a stroke.
ReplyDeleteYou have just relieved my mind....I think! Unless you should be concerned because whatever is wrong with me is catching. Arrgghh.
ReplyDeleteLast night I wanted to ask Jonathan if music was on his birthday list and I asked him if he wanted milk!
Scary!!
What a fun topic ... & one I can relate to.
ReplyDeleteThis brought to mind my Uncle Carl & Aunt Marge who were once inadvertently called Marl & Carge. Well from then on that is what we called them at home.
I also recall an old boyfriend's mom who was forever calling me Karen (his previous girlfriend's name). I swore it was on purpose, but now that I have even been known to call my son by the dog's name, I guess I'll have to cut her some slack :).
I transpose numbers more than words.
ReplyDeleteThat's so humorous! It is always good when we can get a laugh "at ourselves!"
ReplyDeleteWhen that happens, we say we got our "mix all talked up!" Happens quite frequently to both of us!
OMYGOSH, sweet Vee..
ReplyDeleteI do it....A LOT.
fleas and ticks becomes flick and tees...
beverly and jerry becomes jeverly and berry...
Think it's just that we have too many things going on in our minds at that paticular time.
Have a dood gay..
xoxo bj
I have two...
ReplyDeleteMy brother used to always say, "Sometimes I get my mords wixed and my trounge tisted and I can't streak spaight." Or in other words - I get my words mixed and my tongue twisted and I can't speak straight.
My name is Penny, my husbands name is Kent and people always call us Kenny and Pent.
Hugs,
Penny
So funny, I do it all the time, drives my kids nuts.
ReplyDeleteI think it means you have a lot on your mind, Vee! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm back from my whirlwind trip of Sydney, Australia! It was fun!
PS: Hope you and yours had a very happy birthday! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I am forever mixing words up. My friends are just used to me. Vee, I have to tell you, I adore your avitar. I have been meaning to tell you.
ReplyDeleteKaren
Do it all the time, Vee - looks like you're in crate gompany!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!!!
I would, of course, never do anything like that...wink, wink. But I remember when a mom and pop store was open near us and our son rode his bike there and went in to get a candy bar, Reese's Pieces. Only it came out Reese's Peepers. The store owner still remembers it 20 years later and calls my son Mr. Peepers every time he sees him.
ReplyDeleteOops, forgot to add belated birthday wishes! Hope your day was a good one. Lots of March birthdays around, mine is coming up soon. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning and a belated Happy Birthday my friend! No specific word fun, but I'll keep my ears open.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy this beautiful week!
Leann
I am sure I do have examples (as we all do this at times) but nothing comes to mind at the moment.
ReplyDeleteTold Mr. B "We had out shoe flots" at work today (read: flu shots!)
ReplyDeleteAKK! I missed your birthday :-( So, have a Happy Birth-Whole-Year!
ReplyDeleteOh..and I often drink out of the botter watdle...{water bottle}
