October Note Card Party

(Had a little excitement with an earthquake here at around 7:15 pm. The strongest I can remember feeling, but only a 4.5 4.0. Anyone else feel it? I know it could be felt in Boston. Anyway, since I want to make sure this posts, I'm going ahead with it now.)
The earth's distances invite the eye. And as the eye reaches, so must the mind stretch to meet these new horizons. I challenge anyone to stand with autumn on a hilltop and fail to see a new expanse, not only around him, but in him, too. ~Hal Borland
Welcome! It's our October Note Card Party. I'm expecting — anything!

Here it's a blue sky and water theme. Except we haven't had very many blue skies this month. In fact, I'd call this October a stinking dud of an October as Octobers go. Though we can't always have what we want, can we? We have to use some imagination and make a bitter thing palatable somehow. There's always a clinker...

The next photo was sharpened to within an inch of its life!

Just click on the button in my sidebar for the details. I want to thank all those who participate for being so generous with visiting and commenting at the participants' blogs. I receive so many wonderful comments about what a friendly party this is and how wonderful my readers are. You are pretty terrific just so you'll know.

And it has not been lost on me how many of my readers are now your readers, too. How wonderful!

  2. Hi Vee
My first time finally participating and you've shared some nice scenery from your part of the world. October here has been damp and cold - getting all the rain we didn't during the summer!
Thanks for hosting a fun party.

  4. I sure hope you don't have any more rumbles! That is pretty scary...I'm interested to hear if any other bloggers experienced it! I'm excited about the party and said something funny on my post...just for you! Thanks for the fun! Stay safe!

  5. Beautiful photos Vee - great job.
Thanks for hosting again. : )
I remember last year when we had our earthquake here.

  6. Love your notecards, Vee! Very, very pretty, especially the last one. October has not been a dud here. Our trees have been beautiful and we've had a lot of blue skies. We also received 4" of much-needed rain last Saturday. Great party - thank you!

  7. You managed to find some beautiful blue skies in spite of the rain. Autumn skies and water are just the bluest of blue. Lovely, lovely photos.

I hope you won't have any more earthquakes. Oh how I dislike them.

  8. When I read your blog posts, I can always hear your voice speaking. I love how you called it a "stinking dud of an October". I laughed right out loud when I got to that part.

Your stinking dud is still going to be prettier than a Georgia autumn. Trust me...

I love all these pictures. I can't decide if I like the second one or the third one the best. Must be the blue that I'm drawn to.

  9. You truly are the hostess with the mostest... carrying on with the party despite an earthquake!
Such pretty pictures you are sharing tonight. The blue of the sky and water is breathtaking and that last photo is so peaceful and autumnal.
Thank you for hosting this fun party. I would agree that you have a great group of readers.

  10. Beautiful blue sky photos Vee. The last photo is really pretty too. It has been a lousy October here too as your rain always becomes our rain. That's a good sized earth quake! I heard there was a smaller one in the Bay of Fundy yesterday too. Kind of scary. McAdam has had a lot of small tremors this year. They are very unnerving aren't they? Looks like sunshine for the next 2 days here. Thanks for hosting!

  11. Wow, Vee, your pictures are "picture perfect." Really, really nice. Thanks for hosting. My friend visiting her grandkids in Boston commented on earthquake tonight. Thankful you are all fine. Now on to the debate.

  12. Thank you for mentioning the earthquake....I was wondering if you were ok. I'm not sure if I'll get a post pulled together for the postcard party or not. Getting ready to watch the debate...

  15. Hello, Vee, I am glad you are OK after the earthquake. Didn't feel anything here (so far). Love your photos, I went with a similar theme of outdoors and glorious weather. xo

  16. Beautiful pictures again! I think my favorite is the second one. Love that bit of fall color peeking in the corner. :)

  18. O, I do love your pretty cards and would buy them in a New York Minute.
I really love the last one.

Earthquake? Omygoodness...that would scare me. When I was a tiny girl, I would often dream of being in an earthquake where the ground opened and I fell in. Scared me soooo bad.
This seemed to be during the time my mom and dad were divorcing and we had moved far away from my dad.
After awhile, tho, the dream vanished...never to return. :)

  21. Hello Vee
I've just found your blog via Lorrie, so I thought I would join in your Note Card Party.
I'm on the other side of the world in New Zealand - we are used to earthquakes here, but I still get jittery. Luckily I don't live in Christchurch where the bad ones have been occuring for two years.

Thank you so much for hosting this event.

  22. Hi Vee - I don't think I'll make the note card party this week - but I will be looking around - your autumn pictures are great! I like the one with the little white building in it... Later, friend!

  26. Sky and water always makes for great pictures--these are certainly no exception! You are truly a dedication (obsessed?) blogger, getting this up in spite of the earthquake. Glad you are okay! This is my first time participating and I found out it's harder than it looked. Of course, I went with a pet theme.

  29. An earthquake! Oh my gracious!

I agree, this October has not been the looked-forward-to "Golden" Oct. -sigh- But you still have lovely pics, for your note cards. :-)

  32. Hi Vee,

These pictures are so GORGEOUS!!! How I would love to travel to your part of the country to see everything firsthand. All these are lovely, but my favorites are the second and third pictures. They just look like a spot where I would love to spend an afternoon. :)

I can't believe you had an earthquake! We just had a big one last year that went all the way up the east coast, remember? Yikes! I'm glad you're okay and thank you so much for hosting this party every month.

    Hugs,

  34. Beautiful...and I am sharing these with Benjamin this morning. I love that he can see the rest of our beautiful nation through blog land...and fall looks so different in each place.

I hope you enjoyed the debate...hubby talked to the TV all evening!

  35. Earthquake?!! ACK! There was an earthquake in our area last summer. I was at the beach and thought that someone had bumped my beach chair. Ron was at work and felt it much more intensely...his building was evacuated! It is a bit disconcerting, isn't it?

Note Card Party?!! ACK! I went to bed at o'dark thirty last night (this morning), just having completed my Day 17 post. All of my creative energy (and time) is being directed at my series. So while I will miss participating in the party this month, I will be visiting many of the partiers. It's always such a fun gathering! Thank you for hosting! (Yes, and for introducing many of us to one another!)

I love your choices for this month...such blue, blue skies. Autumn splendor. I do love autumn!

  38. Hi Vee,

I wanted to join your note card party today. Yes, we felt the earthquake too. But it was very slight, it just made the window shudder a bit.

Your photographs are beautiful, each one would make a lovely note card.

    Have a beautiful day Vee.

  43. I read about your earthquake in the NY Times this morning, Vee! I'm glad is was a small one!

I'm sorry I missed another month's card party--I wish I could say it was because I was packing, but we don't have house buyers as yet--in fact, we haven't even had any lookers this week! Very frustrating!

  44. Lovely Fall pics...so serene. Sorry the earthquake gave you a fright. Hope nobody was injured. We are used to earthquakes here in So Ca. Have them regularly. Enjoy the weekend,
