It has always fascinated me when visiting blogs participating in a look-alike/copy-cat challenge as my friend BJ often does — *here* is a fine example. BJ blogs at Sweet Nothings. Surely, you have visited her before. If not, you are in for a treat!
Now BJ likes loves a good party. Not liking to party alone, she often asks her readers to join her in the fun. I've been thinking about it for a year. Yes, I'm a titch slow...

Okay, maybe not so great and certainly a lot more formal than my humble haven ordinarily sees on the one hand and a whole lot cheesier on the other. Still it was fun to try!

Have a happy Wednesday now!
P.S. Can you help me? One of you referenced Adopt a Soldier a few weeks back. A blog friend of yours (on your blog roll) was asking for help with her soldier's list. She thought that she was getting one soldier when what she got was a troop leader with 50 soldiers. This particular group hails from Georgia. On the list were things like fleece twin sheets and certain snack items. I wrote down the address and then in a fit of shredding recently must have lost it. If you can help me, I'd appreciate the pertinent information at Dunnpark @ hotmail dot com. Thanks so much! (Thank you, Cheryl!)
I think you did marvelously!!!! Heavens! I never even TRY to do such things! Like "BJ's" beloved Copy-Cat things. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy 12/12/12!
Ohhhhh Looooook! Susan has started showing us quick snaps of the "Yankee" magazine crew, at work. Which gives us pics, around her house. Oh! If only I could figure out the lay out of her beeeeeeeautiful old house.
ReplyDeleteOh my! Oh my! Oh my!
Hey, you did good on the copycat challenge!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks great! So pretty! And so did your table setting! Those were fun to look at over at BJ's and NO, I had never read her blog before! I am going to get even less done everyday now! :)
ReplyDeleteI think these things are fun because they are inspiring and lead us to try things we hadn't thought of - it doesn't have to be a perfect match and in fact I like them better when they don't match exactly. It allows more of the persons own personality or style to come through!
Great job!
Deanna
Good copycat job Vee. I've seen the odd post about it, including over at BJ's one time. Something new to try for sure.
ReplyDeleteJudith
I believe I like yours better than the magazine picture. You've found another place for the wreath you made, too. In this small townhouse, I don't have a spot to try to copy anything. If I did, all of my dishes and other pretty items are still in our storage unit. More than 4 years in that storage unit. I don't even remember what I have!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea, though, and I hope you'll share more of your "copycat" projects.
Vee, you did mahvelous, dahling, just mahvelous. I would link up. xo
ReplyDeleteI think you did a very nice job on both of your copycat challenges. I'll bet it was fun to look around and see what you had to create the mantle. It looks very pretty.
ReplyDeleteCute title for your post today. Speaking of cat capers... Susan's post this morning was hilarious!
So pretty! You are a master at copy cat~ting! Hope to see more!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a fabulous job Vee and you should join in the challenges at Debbiedos!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
Your vignette & tablesetting are 'copy cat' worthy. Beautiful, great job!
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Carol
Fantastic job, and I like the addition of the wreath. I have never tried such a thing, but maybe in retirement, sigh, if I ever feel like I'm retired. I'm sure it's not an easy task but yours is done well..hey I have one silver charger like that and I'm now wondering where it is. If there was ever a time to use it, is now. Thanks for the reminder...
ReplyDeleteYou did a lovely job on the copycat challenge.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I am totally impressed...you did a great job of copy catting! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your recreation! Love that big platter and the way the Christmas lights shine around it! Very nice job!
ReplyDeleteVee, your copycats are fabulous! Indeed they are! I am swooning over both...
ReplyDelete(Dare I say that I like your cabinet display better than Victoria's? Your lights are a great addition.)
I like your's better - warmer and softer!!!! This looks like a fun challenge to try sometime! It might also be fun to try to do a "high price look" vs. a "low price copy-cat look" to see if you can tell the difference.
ReplyDeleteOh how ambitious! =D The photography would give it away here. Ha!
DeleteYour copy cat versions are great Vee ~ beautiful and festive. Of course if they were BJ's there would be food on those plates ~ probably biscuits (**
ReplyDeleteYou did real good, Vee. Love them both. I'm sorry I do not know the info you are after...
ReplyDeleteVee, not only did that Christmas staging look amazing, but I had to go reread your post to see which was the magazine and which was yours. It looks beautiful. Thanks for the links to your blogging friends. You are much better at traveling around the land of blog than I am these days. There is so much Christmas inspiration around, it's difficult to see it all. I love that about blogging. You are always good at sharing information and promoting everyone.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I fixed the link.
Have a great day, now I am going to take your inspiration and do some more decorating around here.
Karen
I think both look so lovely Vee! You did a wonderful job on the copycat. I do love Victoria Bliss, don't you?
ReplyDeletexo
You did wonderfully on your version and I'm impressed with your eye for detail! I agree, how ambitious and I feel further behind than I already am:-(
ReplyDeleteI think you did very well!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Vee. I am going straight to my china cabinet and start with my grandma's vintage meat platter. Just plain old fashion platter but so full of nostalgia. I was tired of my same old way.
ReplyDeleteQMM
I think you did a fabulous job. My goodness, I could hardly tell the difference.
ReplyDeleteIt is simply BEAUTIFUL!!! I AM a copy cat in so many ways but have never tried something like this. Next year I just may do one! I guess my Santas are copy cat challenges! The window frame is ever so cool!! Bet you use that in a million different ways!
ReplyDeleteHi Vee!
ReplyDeleteYou are a great copy cat - I really could not tell which was which! In fact, I actually liked yours better - a little more homey... :0) It was fun checking out the links - some great ideas!
I also love that you have snow - I really want to have a white Christmas. If we don't get snow this year, it will be the first year that I can ever remember not having the ground covered with white fluff!
Hugs,
Barb
You do great creations. I love it. We are going to be swimming pretty soon if it doesn't stop raining. Just a little and I mean LITTLE snow would be nice.
ReplyDeleteI never think to copy cat anything, always like to do my own thing then it's yours.
ReplyDeleteMerle......
Ahhh ☺ I don't think I've explained this so well. It's a game one plays in Blogdom to participate in a party. And it always becomes your own because it's impossible to have the exact things in the photo being copied. It really helped me over a decorating nightmare. You should have seen the mess it was prior to the challenge. Come on, try it, you'll like it!
DeletePlease send some of your snow this way!! Pretty please :)
ReplyDeleteWell! Miss Copy Cat, I like yours the best, are you sure, VB didn't copy yours?~smile~ Great job, I must find the time to come back and catch-up, I used to blog late at night but haven't lately, just as sure as the sun goes down so do I, however tonight is a Christmas gathering at our Pastor's house(hope to stay awake), so maybe tomorrow! After seeing your decorations I am almost tempted to forgo putting pictures and whatnots out, and start decorating. We are still getting that tree this week.~smile~
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
Sue
I love your copy cat Vee. That old dresser is so beautiful and I love the way added your own touch. The place setting was great too. You should enter the copy cat party!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I've missed so many of your beautiful pictures and wonderful stories on your past blogs..... I've been scrolling through and saw your beautiful Christmas tree and your warm and inviting and lovely home, your handsome family and SNOW... OH MY GOSH, SNOW....
ReplyDeleteYour decorations look fantastic!!!
Hugs,
I love your vignette. Copying is a form of flattery and you've done it so well. Victoria Magazine had wonderful ideas, didn't it? I still have stacks of the magazine upstairs and am thinking of disposing of them somehow. I just don't have time to sit and peruse them as I used to do.
ReplyDeleteYour efforts are certainly worthy of the party - go ahead. Enter. Be daring!
You did a fabulous job of copying, Vee! I'd say...join the party.
ReplyDeleteI love to copy cat, and I haven't done it in a while. Mine rarely if ever look as good as my inspiration, but yours does! I love whole look and would like to copy cat your copy cat. One of these days, I'm going to be a better time manager again and have time for that copy cat party. It always looks so FUN.
ReplyDeleteYAY.....YOU DID GREAT...and it's beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteSee, didn't I tell ya how much fun it is. I look forward to DebbieDoos parties every month. We haven't got word yet when it will be in January but I hope you will join in, too. I start looking for a copy cat photo long before I need it. :)
Thanks so much for the nice shoutout...
xoxo
I think you did it well Vee. Have browsed through your posts being so way behind with visiting. You are never forgotten though. Often on my mind.
