We have new toys: Mine is an iPad and John's is a Kindle Fire. He is getting very good at his and does seem to enjoy it, though I have caught him at his "old-fashioned" way this morning. I'm not so good at mine. Can't figure out how to actually leave a comment when I visit your blog. Do you mind? Do let me know. Ha!
How wonderful! I really like the convenience of my iPad. And I don't know what in the world I would do without my Kindle. I have never read so much in my life!
ReplyDeleteHere's how to comment with the iPad. You have to touch your finger to "click" to add a comment. Then you have to put your finger in the comment box for the keypad to pop up. Type in your comment. Then hit enter. It takes a while to get used to the keyboard set up. I still type with one finger on it, LOL, so I'm not very fast. For commenting, I prefer to use my computer and it's regular keyboard.
I meant to say touch your finger to the screen to click...
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good day for you both to stay in and play with your new toys. We are seeing a little sun today after several days of rain (over 6"). Wishing you a pleasant day.
ReplyDeleteHooray for new toys! If you wanted them, which I'm sure you did. (Btw, son agrees that a Kindle Fire is the way to go... For what that's worth. -grin- His is a Kindle-Fire-from-Amazon, but Nook is with Barnes & Noble... Which he feels may fold some day, 'B&N' that is. But Amazon will go on *forever.*)
ReplyDeleteAnd your blogged photos are simply delightful, yet again!!!!!!!! Just yummy they are! OF COURSE, I am viewing your blog, on my nice big computer screen. So everything looks delightful, here, on your blog, on my nice big computer screen, which I always use to view all blogs... Ahemmm... My point?
With all the work we do, composing our blog entries, and taking our pictures and doing our 'blog look,' we deserve for our blogs to be read on a big computer screen. "Auntie" sezzzzzz... Because "Auntie" is grumpy-that-way.
-grump- -grump- -grump-
Hugs...
Well then, Auntie, you will be pleased to know that my techie nieces are setting up my iPad to be compatible with the tv and soon I will be able to see your blog on my tv screen! Amazing, yes?
DeleteON THE TV SCREEN?!?!?! Eeeeeeeeeeeeek! Too much display!!! -grin-
DeleteBe careful what you ask for, hu? -gigggggles-
Yes, that is my daughter on the left of the first picture.
The Bacon Story!!! These 2 'Grands' love bacon, but their homes do not buy it. They love for 'Pop' to make them Toasted Bacon and Peanut Butter Sandwiches, when they come over here. So one Christmas, we gave them each their own package of bacon. They both can cook for themselves, when necessary.
Now of course, we must NOT forget to GIVE them BACON! ,-)
And in the "He SAID he wanted "A TRUCK"..." picture, that is Gabe's mommy on the left of the pic. And on the right of the pic, is mommy of our beautiful oldest Grand Kate. I tell ya', she gets more lovely, as Kate grows older and more lovely too. Lucky son of mine, hu???? :-) (The son, in the butt shot!!!) -gigggles-
My hubby had a birthday a couple of days ago and got an IPAD...he's loving it! I see him on a computer in every room of the house now! haha! Have fun..relax and rest! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteA pleasant day here today, also, I am out and about in blogland doing some catchup, just can't seem to get back to posting though, you are so right the longer one stays away from blogging the harder it is to get back, or is that.. the easier it is to stay away, whichever, I am finding it very hard to post, another reason might be that I am a little boring, or is that a lot boring. ! LOl, anyhow enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sue
You will eventually love your ipad, but it is hard to leave comments, so I generally don't comment much when iPad blog reading. I have yet to go to a class but am planning on doing that at the apple store --well, it came with mine, maybe you didn't get yours there--well let's say if I learn anything I'll let you know. I do like it for searching the internet, looking at photos, reading a book (and underlining and taking notes... ) you can even borrow books from internet lending libraries. One of the things we use it for is watching movies --especially if I want to watch one alone --we have netflex on tv so on ipad too ... and it is is great! I use it a lot with my mom, showing her photos of her great grands, etc. Well, enough on that. Enjoy learning it! (if you have a new one you must have Siri and you will grow to enjoy dictating emails, lists, notes to yourself, texts. etc.) Just check her someitmes she slips in a bad word, just didnt' hear you right. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun...new toys! Although I find it so challenging to learn new techie skills. Fortunately for me, I still have young people in the house who teach me. I sit here on my last year's toy, my laptop. Don't know what I did without it!
ReplyDeleteOf course, we don't mind! I truly don't want people to feel obligated to make comments. Karen Andreola said it this way,
I think it is fine to peruse a public post like people used to relax with the newspaper - without necessarily sending a letter to the editor. The 20th century term "lurk" which I am most familiar with, makes the new 21st century blog definition seem a bit harsh and ill-fitting to me.
Never-the-less it is always nice to be introduced to those of you who, once in a while, resonate with something you've read here.
I thought that an interesting perspective.
I got an iPad, too and your blog is my first to visit on my new toy. I'm able to comment but I have to hope for the best as the font in the comment box is ridiculously tiny
ReplyDeleteAnd it cut me off before I was ready. Wishing is both luck as we adapt to our new tech toys.
ReplyDeleteI like to clicky click clicky my old fashioned pc too much - plus I GOTTA have my warm and furry Lumbar Kitty behind me in my chair whilst I click.
ReplyDeleteI know I may eventually be an iPad kinda gal, but not sure it will happen anytime soon.
My hubs has had a Nook since they came out and LOVES it.
I think I am too old fashioned, plus after blogging my eyes need a break from light and prefer books and magazines...that too will eventually change one day too, I am certain.
So glad for you with your new tech toys, peeps swear by them.
And heck yes I would miss your comments. They totally make my day.
Hugs, dear friend.
John and Vee: the Techno couple! What fun for you to have new toys to play with. I've not yet jumped onto the e-Reader bandwagon, for a number of reasons. I probably will one day - our children have them and I've read a few books on them.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy staying cozy indoors.
New toys...how fun! I love the kindle for traveling. I somehow prefer turning paper pages on the couch. I got an i-phone for Christmas...though it's not 'unwrapped' as yet. Have a fun day...and a relaxing one.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! What wonderful new toys! I still love that fire on the TV though. And your home looks just perfect for the two of you - warm, welcoming, contented and cosy.....
ReplyDeleteI just have a "plain" Kindle, but I sure do like it! There are also lots of free books available on Amazon for it. Not that I use it exclusively....
ReplyDeleteMy brother in law takes his iPad everywhere he goes. I talk about perhaps replacing my lame laptops with one some day.
What restful and inviting photos! A great way to spend a cold, wintry day.
Glad you got some new toys. Love your soft pictures. Rainy and snowy today. ~ Abby
ReplyDeleteI am able to leave comments from my ipad, can't edit a post though!
ReplyDeleteMy apple wifi thing, 1 yr old is not working, so I am very limited on the paid plan ,3G thing. I live far from an apple repair place, so I am stuck !
Happy 2013, Vee!
Enjoy your new grown up toys! I need a 12 year old intern to assist me, if I ever get one!! I think it would make blogging on the go a great new pastime. xo
ReplyDeleteMy daughter gave me a Kindle Fire, but I haven't had time to use it yet. I have a nasty head cold and a 4 year old grandson keeping me busy. Stay warm and cozy, XOXO
ReplyDeleteVee
ReplyDeleteI thought of you when I heard of that eastern storm!
I'm glad to hear you're as snug as a bug in a rug.
My kids know better than to get me anything technical,
but I bet you will have your ipad mastered in no time
at all!
I think it would be fun to have an I pad. Learning hoe to use it would be the hardest part for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!
ReplyDeleteI ran errands and found a nice organizer for my desk. I spent part of the afternoon tidying said desk and sorting. I'll try to post about it!
Deanna
ps- Yes, I'd miss you if you didn't comment!
Another leap to make in the future. I'm not quite ready yet as I'm still trying to use my new smart phone that's smarter than me. Blessings...
ReplyDeleteI don't have an iPad. I'm happy I got my phone figured out. I really do like it now though!!
ReplyDeleteI love reading you comments and would miss them very much!! : )
I have not entered this new technology stage yet! My cell is an old flip phone that only texts and talks! A lap top is the newest electronic I own. Someday.......I may have the $$ to spend and the TIME to learn new things. For now I will enjoy YOUR experiences!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I had a regular Nook and then recently bought a Nook Tablet that I love. But it is easier for me just to go to my computer when blogging.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
p.s. do you have a lot of snow?
Five inches so far but we have all night long to go...
DeleteVee I just want to say I love your new blog header and page. It looks so beautiful!!! How fun to have a new iPad. I'm sure you will have fun exploring all of it. We are having a wild blizzard here tonight and into tomorrow. Not pleasant but glad we are safe in our home and hoping the power stays on all night. I have a candle burning just in case. But that won't keep me warm if it goes out!! Your photos are pretty and I like your new set up. Where do you get your pretty design from? Mine is kind of boring. Have a great day tomorrow. Hugs, Pam
ReplyDeleteLooks like "Santa" was good to you! Enjoy your new Ipad - you'll love it! Stay safe during this wintery weather.
ReplyDeleteNice new look to your blog Vee. You will love your iPad once you get the hang of it. I carry mine in my purse so I can input appointments and then they sync right to my computer calendar as well. I use it in the morning when I have my coffee and read blogs and the only annoying thing is that you can't just go back to a word that is misspelled, it takes a bit of juggling to correct. I rarely take photos with mine or store them as I have specific files for all of that on my computer and they take up a lot of space.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your new toy!
Judith
It's always a bit of a learning curve for me with all the new tech. Have fun with the newness. Love the soft look of the photos today!
ReplyDeleteLeann
Your morning looks so peaceful. With the kids out of school here, peaceful mornings are not something we are experiencing right now .... it's more like whats for breakfast, I'm bored, can so & so hang out, can I drive to the store, He's hogging the remote, I'm late for wrestling ..... Yeah. Peace.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new toys!
Aw Vee...I just love you!!! Look at that sweet mitten ornament on your tree too!!! I love seeing your crackling fire on the tv and now you're getting John all techy and stuff!!!! You'll figure out all the things on your new thing, I just know it. Stay cozy and I wanted to wish you a very happy and healthy new year!!!! hugs and love, Dawn
ReplyDeleteAll are beautiful, cozy photos. Your sweet winterland border is darling!
ReplyDeleteOh course I mind!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch great photos! I'll bet you've figured out how to post comments from your iPad by now. My first iPad was a hand-me-down from my husband when he got a new one. This year we each got the new generation 4 iPads because my first one wasn't able to keep up with the updates. With the traveling we did this past week, it was so much fun to have games and reading material in one location (iPad) to relieve those miles and miles of nothing but prairie. Although, I did see a grouse in flight, a sundog, and we were in a ground blizzard for about half an hour.
