Snowy Sunday Afternoon~Mosaic Monday

We spent a cozy, quiet, snowy Sunday afternoon enjoying the lights and the aroma of the baking *Norwegian Custies.* It was a time to decompress from the news reports. (I can't recommend doing that enough.)

  1. That cardinal is so pretty on the pot in your mosaic. We took a day off from the news and spent some time at the park. There were a lot of people there...and even a wedding. Sweet hugs!

  2. I meant to add that we saw several cardinals at the park today. We haven't looked at the photos on the camera hubby was carrying to see if any of them came out. They didn't pose for long!

  3. Such a pretty mosaic! I only turned CNN on once today. I want to hear the updates, but yet I don't. So I get on to look at blogs and I see faces of these innocent children/people that I have not yet seen. It saddens me! I prefer reading the posts showing concern for what happened to the families and the community. I am a bit....bewildered (if that is the correct word) that we need to post these pictures as bloggers! Isn't seeing it on the news enough?! Just my thoughts!

Your mosaic is very comforting by the way!

  5. Your blog is always a feast for the eyes. I heard the news when it happened and then turned it off. Imagine the prayers that are said, that eases my pain.

  7. I am so thankful to not have TV...I check online here or there but it is not in our faces.

    Your mosaic is lovely...

We have no snow, rain is perhaps coming, but the kids desperately want snow...I'd love a white Christmas too!

  8. This week's mosaic is so cozy and warm..."glowing" was the first word that came to mind. And delicious, as I spied those Norwegian custies in the smaller mosaic...

  9. Sounds like my house this afternoon, minus the snow (only rain) and scent of baking. Pretty pictures!

  10. Oh, how festive! We've had the news off since early this morning. We needed some peach and quiet today. There is talk of some blogging silence days this week. Some say tomorrow and some say Tuesday. I'm on my own schedule and won't be participating in those events, however. Gosh, I need to figure out what to feature for your note card party! I will load that post up on Tuesday and then do my Wordless Wednesday post the next day. (Mister Jim calls it my Witless Wednesday post, LOL, and that is probably closer to the truth.)

  14. Beautiful!! Simply BEAUTIFUL!!
We did the same thing. Not the baking but the decompressing.
Rain here - no snow. Does it EVER snow in Houston? I doubt it!

  15. I love the rosey glow to your photos, Vee! It looks so warm and cozy and so Christmas-y. It has been such a sad weekend, but life has to go on, doesn't it? Our prayers will continue forever, and that is very comforting thought.

  16. What a warm and cozy feeling your mosaic gives me. I hear we are in for a lot of snow Tuesday and Wednesday and I guess you're first in line for it. I'm glad I didn't have the channels to watch all the sad news on TV. I think praying for those who are suffering is more of the answer than watching all the sadness. It's too overwhelming. I hope you have a blessed week!

  19. A quiet, snowy Sunday sounds peaceful and calming. Such days are needed more than ever now. Watching or reading news report after news report is so disturbing. Quiet prayer is better for me.

I'm off to check out the cookie link.

  20. The mosaic is so beautiful, Vee, very warm and cozy.

I haven't been watching the news since I first heard about Newtown. It's just too sad to listen to them talk about it nonstop. I can check the online news sources if I want to learn more.

Now, I'm off to check out Norwegian custies!

  21. There's something about today's mosaic that makes me want to climb right in and visit - you are in there somewhere, aren't you?! Thanks for posting the Custie link - I think a lot of us may be making them!

  22. I love your cute mosaic! I did the same, I had to get away from the news. I have to look up Custies, they are new to me. Thanks for sharing the link. Have a lovely day!

  23. I see them! I hope you enjoy them and that your equivalent to the custard powder worked. I love the mosaic, Vee - and I agree to switch the news off right now.

  24. Sometimes when you have no control over what happens it is a good idea to turn the news off and try and think of other things for a while.

  25. I agree about stepping away from the news. The grief is all consuming.

  26. Love your cardinal and all the red. Lovely! I've turned the tv and radio off and turned the Christmas music UP. Hugs--

  27. Beautiful, beautiful mosaic... Very uplifting and lovely...

You know I agree, about the decompressing from the horror.

Thank you for continuing to blog. My view is that, for we who are removed from that horror, it is useless for us to dwell in Mourning/Sadness. It helps no one.

And it certainly doesn't help our own family or little sphere of influence. To be sad, sad, sad. Especially at Christmas Time.

To add Light to the world, as opposed to dwelling in Sadness, is not being inconsiderate. Of course, a horror shocks us and effects us! Of course!

But it seems that to carry-on-carrying-on, is more of a tribute to those innocent children and adults.

    Hugs...

  31. We have had front page news and lots of TV coverage over here of the appalling shootings over there. Of course we grieve with you and it makes is so real when knowing that so many of the children were the same age as my Grandson .My prayers go out to all.
